Dear Rahul, deepest respects to you and your journalism. Listening to you and having watched the movie, both have clarified the facts to me. While the movie as I see has focused to show the most intense period during that time, you have tried to explained the some of key facts leading up to it and thereafter. I find both complimenting to understand the whole situation. The bottom line for me, the complete failure of all governments ( state & center) over 30+ years to formally accept this as a grave tragedy of independent India and not providing the community the support to heal - seems almost criminal.

It is usual in India that minority groups, whether based on caste, language, religion etc. suffer discrimination of different types. This is particularly so in villages and small towns. But in Kashmir, what Pandits have suffered over the years is exceptional, ruthless, fanatic religious genocide. It is even surprising that there was hardly any protest against it in India or by BJP or RSS. Central Govt failed miserably in protecting India's citizens. This is a disaster of monumental proportions in independent India, just like 1984 riots.

Question here is why never this true status of Kashmiri Victims shown in any Bollywood movies earlier ? Now when Indian citizens realising the truth still there are other groups in all strength to prove its fake movie. What a shame! Only in India this kind of politics is seen. Other countries stand united against Terrorism but it happens only in India where Human Rights are meant for Terrorist and Refugee Camps are meant for innocent Citizens. Article 370 when removed , I never knew rather I never learnt what it meant. But now I can understand how important it was. Every Indian citizen has right to know and learn about its constitution. But we as a common man so focused in our daily work forget about this and at the end it's so necessary to know the truth of each act in our country.

Just finished reading the book "Our Moon has Blood Clots. Have grown up in Jammu with KP friends and listened to these stories. Have also watched "The Kashmir Files". All these accounts are pretty complementary of each other. Don't know why Rahul Pandita ji would come out against the Kashmir Files movie. If there are minor differences between how Rahul ji wants to tell the story and how Vivek ji wants to tell it, they both are actually complementary to each other.

Since RP spoke of Uri 1947, it's surprising he didn't speak of Jammu massacre of muslims in 1947 done by the Hindu maharaja's police/army and RSS. The number of muslims killed is mind boggling (conservative est is 48000). Surely that event was an important one in history of the relationship between the two communities. Jammu was a Muslim majority city. Post massacre and exodus, muslims became a minority there. Talking abt KP exodus is fine, but really sad nobody wants to talk abt a far worse genocide and exodus

With in a week of the killings, ‘a large flock’ of the Hindus and Sikhs from Rawalpindi division started migrating to neighbouring Kashmir region. The embittered Sikh and Hindu refugees’ tales of violence raised animosities wherever they settled. They planned revenge and produced and circulated wildly inflammatory pamphlets and brochures. Their horrified tales of the Muslim perpetration circulated widespread and served as an occasion to launch a reign of terror on the Jammu Muslim population. Shortly flight and violence went hand in hand. Violence Jammu was increasingly locked into an all-India pattern, as killings in one part of the country were justified as retribution for violence in another part. You say Jagmohan is unfairly blamed for GawKadal massacre. If that was so, wasn't it his responsibility to order an investigation and find the truth. After all, he was the centre of power at that time. He never took such an action because he approved it. Btw, he repeated it again with CRPF forces during Mirwaiz's funeral with 60 (govt figures) to 100 (bbc report) killed in firing. Don't make him out as so innocent.

But , Jagmohan came with a clear communal agenda and wanted a free-hand to crush kashmiris with iron fist and preferred KPs out of the equation. His acts during those 5 months helped a lot in alienating kashmiris further. As much as you defend Jagmohan limited from a KP's perspective, your credibility will increase much if you accept his very evident failures from larger perspective.

By removing 370 modi govt did 80% work to bring back the control and improve law and order. Now the pandits will go back as soon as those culprits get exemplary punishment. So govt should bring justice and all the culprits should be in jail. Muslim community should understand they can do the nonsense any more, kashmir is the integral portion of India, they will be punished if they brake law and order. Govt should create environment so pundit community get confidence to get back. Kashmir has the potential to become a best tourist destination if govt make sure there is peace, safety and security. Shikara looks bad/meek in hindsight. At the time when Shikara was made, no movie had touched the subject of exodus. He has been vocal about the issue since forever, and even if a bad one, it was a step towards highlighting the issue. So I can totally understand him jumping into a project which talked about it. That shows you how desperate we were to tell the story till now.

Kashmir is plagued with injustices to its people . This is just what I have understood from many sources including Hindu and Muslim. A Hindu king instead of doing the right thing by his people, sold Kashmir to India and ran away from Kashmir . The kashmiri Pandits persons in there did everything they could to keep spying for India and reporting Intelligence to India. In The valley there was a deep mistrust of Pandits .it did not help that all economics in the valley had to go through a Pandit. There was an estimate that thy controlled over 70% of trade . Donno how true . India there is a strategic need for Kashmir and has used the very fight for kashmiri rights against them by denying the people the right for self determination . I would say in a frustrated state people will resort to violence aginst the nearest party . Just like in Gujurat attacks on Muslims by Hindus . Many of such hatred continues till this day . One person remarked of Indian freedom fighters were terrorists to the British but freedom fighters to its own people.

This is rightly presented as an emotion that is not easy to heal because it was a targetted massacre and uprooting over years. Amazing that reporters researchers teaching community politicians Center all fell prey to it knowingly or unknowingly brushing it aside as not worth an issue that affects the nation. India until now has not decided about Kashmir. We have now taken a stand that we will not let go the state and that is reflected in the form of the removal of the articles. Audio-Visual media is the most strongest medium to portray the truth. Movies hence provide the best possible way to convey the message. Whether the director of the movie has other motives becomes irrelevant here till he portrays the truth. It is said that Justice can be delayed but never denied. Same goes for Truth. Conspirators may use every weapon in their arsenal to supress the truth, but slowly it emerges like a phoenix. Thanks to the movie, the common man of India is now coming to know of the pain the Kashmiri pandits had to go through, since centuries. Communists in Bengal also have a bloody history of massacres. Its time a movie is made on that. Very few people in India may have heard a place called Marijhapi where the communists have blood on their hands. It time people know who the real enemy is !

He never made shikara....he's not a film director or producer...maybe he was used as an adviser and also the movie was roughly based off of his book " our moon has blood clot". Also talking about the new movie "kashmir files" It has several plot holes along with subliminal propaganda. The movie is excellent and well acted but our emotional fool people have started promoting it by saying " you're anti national/ anti hindu if you don't see this movie" and rather than helping and sympathizing the victims they're calling out Muslims and blaming them ( if there was a movie named 'Gujrat files' trust me Muslims would do the same ) Also in a recent interview Mr. Vivek Agnihotri was asked will this money (pointing towards Kashmir files) be used for the betterment of the Kashmiri pandit and he replied with " Well atleast let us earn some money. Sir , completely surprised by how you start and how you end this video. You summarize it really well by passing a message that Kashmiri pundits should not be expected to be flag bearers of either secularism or pluralism , all the time and we should give them some allowance for the price they have already paid for this . But Sir , you are the one who has let Kashmiri Pundits down by not walking the talk. With this video you have actually told us that things were much worse for much longer then it was depicted in the movie . With your words you have corroborated the movie. But in your acts you have grievously erred by not doing your bit for the cause. Interesting that when talking about incidents of 1947 Kashmir, Rahul avoids talking about huge massacre of Muslims in neighbouring Jammu which happened weeks before the Pathan invasion he cites. Remember that it is all part of same state. Muslims who were 61% of Jammu population in 1941 was reduced to a minority after this. : To quote a 10 August 1948 report published in The Times, London: “2,37,000 Muslims were systematically exterminated - unless they escaped to Pakistan along the border - by the forces of the Dogra State headed by the Maharaja in person and aided by Hindus and Sikhs. This happened in October 1947, five days before the Pathan invasion and nine days before the Maharaja’s accession to india.” As a result of the massacre/migration, Muslims who were a majority (61 per cent) in the Jammu region became a minority.

He feared that muslim majority in his kingdom might force him to join Pakistan. So, he and the dogra tribes decided to take matters into their own hands to pre-emptively target muslims and he succeeded to change the demographics of jammu. Every other murders in erstwhile J&K state followed this event.
