Absolutely brilliant cutting Kasia. I left a message for you months ago complimenting your skills, but will say it again. I am definitely going to join your on-line class in a few months. I have accumulated so much glass and tools, but didn't have the time. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hi! Shopping for the tile nippers. Could you please tell me if both jaws are flat or is one flat the other concave? Do your flat head tile nippers close completely? Thanks for your time.

They are perfect! How do you prevent the glass from sliding when you are using two hands with the scoring pen?

Ive tried to use the tile nippers to cut circles like in one of your other videos and the heart in this one but I absolutely cannot get the glass to break with them. Only the wheeled nippers seem to work. are some tile nippers just better than others and maybe that's why my flat ones will not break glass. I know normally the wheeled nippers are for glass but I got the other ones to try a couple things you do in your videos. I just got cheap ones to practice but they just don't cut the glass without a tremendous force.

+Thiago Doherty “T.D.” Garcia Sorry to hear you are having trouble with your flathead nippers. I know that can be frustrating. The flathead tile nippers are in fact not made for cutting glass the way that wheeled nippers are, that's just a trick that I developed that seems to work very well for me so I like to share it with people. But it does take a lot of practice to get a hang of it, mostly because people think it should work like the wheeled nipper but that's not the case. To me it doesnt' sound like the tool is the problem. These kind of nippers are very basic and affordable, any pair should work as long as they are flat. In most cases when my students start out using this tool in class, most of them, despite my initial instructions, start out using it wrong as if its the wheeled nipper, crunching down on the glass and shattering it. That never works as this tool is not made to cut glass that way but it can be used to shape glass with the right touch - that's what I do with the circles I shape as well as what I do in this video. In my classes, I guide the students and things eventually click but they still need to practice at home to get better. That's a great reason to take a class if you can't figure it out on your own at home. Even though this tool is rudimentary looking there is a lot of subtlety and finesse needed to have it do what you want. I learned through experimenting and always paying attention to all of my mistakes. I always asked myself why is this happening? How can I avoid making that mistake? You are most likely crushing the glass with the flat head tile nippers. You have to be gentle and carefully shape the edge. I would recommend playing around with some scraps for practice. This video was just a demo on cutting out the heart so it didn't go into full detail of how to use the flathead tile nippers. I wish you the best of luck!

I went to your FABULOUS website to try to buy the cutting tool. Can u pls link me or tell me where to buy. I have several tools and I just seem to make them go where I don't want the cuts to happen. None of my cutters look like this, can u please recommend?

wow, it's amazing. Do you sand the pieces after cutting them?
@KasiaPolkowska6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Neyvis! So far, I've not sanded (used a grinder) to smooth the pieces after using this cutting method. For me it comes out nicely and because of the kind of work I create, there has not been a need for additional smoothing.

Red and While Opal - 3571' from the American made glass Spectrum. If you do a google search you will be able to find a supplier hopefully close to where you live to save on shipping cost.
