wow, i didn't expect such a reaction from a younger guy. i totally feel you, whenever she sings/performs, i'm instantly connected. she gives her all to the audience in her live performances. that's why she completely deserved the love in her "je t'aime live in paris 2001" performance.

Thanks Kassi! I’ve probably watched over 20 reactions of that performance over the past night, and I wanted to thank you for how sincere and respectful your own reaction to this masterpiece was. The expression of your face and your comment at the end are by far the best tribute to this 1999 legendary video.

I grew up listening to Lara back in the 90s in Canada, I absolutely love seeing other people discoverer her. Here's a new Canadian vocal powerhouse (thought different) and a great song writer, she's originally Moroccan but grew up in Canada, speaks French, English and Arabic and play piano, guitar and violin. She's 20 and is in university for engineering whilst building a career in music. Do check out Faouzia stripped version of Tears of Gold and about any other brilliant songs she's released. I promise it's worth it. As for Lara, you just can't go wrong, she's always been brilliant!

Make sure you click the one from her “ Lara with love” concert ( like the previous 2.. same concert ). She explains in the intro how the inspiration came to write the song. My next suggestion from Lara would be 'Caruso' and 'Perdere L'amore'' again with subtitles for both songs, than 'You Are Not From Here'. Finally you should watch an absolute masterclass of 8 minutes when she performs 'Extrait de Yentl' from her Concert Pure live album. Also if you want to see her sing an incredible duet you absolutely MUST check out 'Requiem Pour un Fou' which she sings with Johnny Hallyday back in 1998 in a pouring rain. I was lucky to be there that night.

Growing up, Dimash was a big fan of Lara Fabian. When she heard his version of "Adagio" on the Singer Chinese TV show she sent him a congratulatory note. He has since sung several of her songs such as Mademoiselle Hyde. And now they have done a couple of duets together. You have the gift of describing intense emotions, which puts you at the elite level of reactors. I'm sure the "Dears", what Dimash calls his fans, are going to overwhelm your channel with subscriptions. Very deservedly so. I'm so glad you got introduced to Lara. She's an international legend and just like Dimash sings in multiple languages. Her performances are not songs. They are works of art. Same as Dimash's!

Lara really has the voice of any angel. She is able to tell the story and her dramatic pauses are there to get you to hang onto the last sentence to process what she has sung and draw you in to the next line. It's like the singing equivalent of a cliffhanger. She really is an excellent storyteller and an even more fantastic singer. She sings in French, Italian, her mother tongue, Spanish, Japanese and of course English. She came into prominence at the same time as Céline whom I love but I love this lady's voice even more. She really is untouchable. Not only is she a very talented Lyric Soprano, she is a first-class song writer. Yes the translation is 100% and conveys the meaning in a not so fluent or natural way in English so could do with some jigging but you get what she's saying. The song is about a very toxic love/relationship. She is in love with someone who really doesn't care about her, who has totally taken over her being - drained her emotionally in every way. Yet she can't get away from this love, even though she feels trapped and void of her words, her happiness and knows that her lover doesn't give a damn, yet there is no escape hence her despair. She makes a reference to her childhood which leaves the listener believing that this relationship is as a result of how she was treated as a child and has become like a self-fulfilling prophecy. It was written by Serge Lamas and Alice Dona, both French singer songwriters. It was sung by Serge at a much slower pace and explains why some of the things that Lara sings sound a little odd at times. Apart from the obvious gender agreement, for instance, she sings comme un gosse idiot which identifies the singer as a man, she would normally sing comme une gosse idiote etc. She also talks about smoking and drinking whiskey which normally are very masculine but not entirely traits associated with men. Don't shoot the messenger lol! I have a few other singers sing this song. Dallida is also another great who sings this song with great emotion. She also dives into her own emotions and digs deep into her own tragedies which ended in her taking her own life sadly. But I have to say, no one sings this song and is able to tell the story like Lara. When they say that you don't have to understand the language to understand the song or that music is the universal language - they weren't joking when it comes to Lara. So glad you found this beautiful lady with a heavenly voice. Once you hear Lara sing, you really won't want to hear any other version. I think it really should have been written for a woman as women put this kind of emotion across differently and more relatable. Sorry to say that as a woman I know that we are more in touch with and willing to talk about our emotions etc. I first heard her when I lived in France. She is now in Canada but she actually is Belgian. Her father is Flemish and her mother was Italian. Yes I am a big fan lol.

Watching your face through her performance was a study in awe, enchantment, someone fully immersed in the story she has woven and your emotions she brought out in your own head and heart. I believe slack-jawed is the perfect term. She's pretty amazing, isn't she? Even for those of us who have had to keep a tight rein on our emotions (for whatever reason) she seems to walk right through the defences we've erected and speak right to our hearts. She reaches her hand out and we can't help but take hold and follow her on the journey. She's like a pied piper. She's magical.

Lara is among my top 6 female vocalists in the world. But now it is time for you and your subscribers to react to a young female vocalist in her teens from Russia ( among my top 6) who possesses the most unique mesmerizing memorable amazing atavistic tribunal primordial shaman goddess voice in the world -any age. Her name is Diana Ankudinova and at age 14 her incredible and legendary performance of an old ritual wedding folk song titled “ rechenka” ( River in English) Is -to this day-considered by many professional vocalists and coaches as the most unique and mesmerizing live performance by a vocalist -any age , in the history of Russian talent shows-adult or kids!! ( click the 3:32 one posted by HTP) . “Rechenka “ along with “ Human” and “ Wicked Game” contributed to her winning not only the kids contest for 2 consecutive years but catapulted her to international stardom. And you might want to read a little about her tragic younger years as an orphan abandoned by her mother at age 3. You may want to begin your Ankudinova journey by reacting the year prior to “ rechenka” when she was 13! She entered her first kids contest in Russia where she sang a song that required masterful yodeling. It was a masterpiece, a tour de force in not only yodeling but body movement and stage presence and incredible as this might sound ( and I’ll shortly explain the reason why) but NOT ONE CHAIR TURNED!!!! After the song was finished and the judges turned around , the audience interrupted what they were saying by giving Diana a 5 minute STANDING OVATION. After the applause, the judges had her perform a segment of a French song made famous by Edith Pief and after she sang it , the lady judge covered her face with both hands in utter shock , disbelief and SHAME. The judges said they didn’t press their buttons because they couldn’t teach her anything. She was beyond their level already. But this turned out to be a BLATANT LIE and one of the worse scandals in Russian talent contests. Because the following day it was revealed that the contest was “ fixed” the winner was “bought” before the show started. A total travesty of justice and revealing how corrupt this Russian kids show was at the time. And the following days over 80 million who watched the contest when posted on KZbin spit on the judges. But she got her revenge the following year and year thereafter by winning not only the Russian contests in two consecutive years but 60 more awards and contests. Please ( when you get the chance) KZbin “ Diana Ankudinova yodeling”. ( click the 3:42 one posted by HTP) and you’ll witness a yodeling masterpiece and if you stay to near the end of the judges commentary ( making excuses and lying) you will hear a brief portion of the French song the judges asked her to sing that she NAILED! All love in isolation from Miami Beach, Florida, Al

The song I'm Sick is inspired by a real heartache of Serge Lama, the story of a long secret relationship. In 1969, the singer met Michèle Potier in Chamonix. Love is a certainty, but they are not free either: in 1968 Daisy Brun married her press secretary, she is married and the mother of a little boy. They love each other in secret for several years and promise to regain their freedoms, but Michèle hesitates and eventually flees and settles in Morocco for professional reasons. Lama is desperate, he wants to put words on his pain without succeeding, until the day he confides to his friend Alice Dona: "This story hurts me, it makes me sick". Back home, at the piano, Alice Dona composes in a few hours a melody [...], which very quickly she makes listen to the singer. It is a revelation and Serge Lama writes almost the entire text with a jet.3 He would later say, "The 80% of the song I wrote in 20 minutes is almost a shame. [...] it came out of my heart so much that I immediately felt that this song had something that others didn't have. ». The great Serge Lama...

Thanks for a great reaction video. Your look of amazement is pretty much like my own, I think, just about every time I listen to that performance! Many people are suggesting great songs for you to listen to, and you should by all means check them out, Lara has such a depth of tremendous songs and performances. Can I recommend something different? L'Oubli is a song Lara wrote about her mother's illness, Lewy Body Dementia, which is similar to Alzheimer's. She wrote the song and produced a video in which her family members simply look into the camera as if they are looking upon her mother with love and compassion. The song is great, the video is incredibly touching, and it reveals so much about who Lara is, I think. She published the video in 2016, and her mother passed away about a year ago. Thanks again.

I've seen literally hundreds of music reactors and you are in the top 5 !!! I've just subscribed and noticed that you haven't done a Pentatonix reaction in a number of months. Any special reason why not. I know you have tons of subscribers and so I don't expect a reply but am hoping for a return to PTX, say Amazing Grace. Be well

Your reaction watching her was priceless. Like most of us you was mesmerized. And I like the fact that you didn't talk or stopped the video, and enjoyed in a row. Lara is amazing, I think now you're aware of that ^^. And all her performances are different. You won't find another same performance from her of this song. Check this one too, you should be amazed again. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHqZqqZ5g5l2j5I And I found recently that she did sang "I Will Always Love You" for her parents 30th wedding anniversary. Go check it. I'm still looking for my jaw.

Yep, you're well and truly down the rabbit hole. Welcome! 😄 The thing I love most about her is that she doesn't "show off" her incredible instrument. Every single choice she makes is in service of the piece: perfect marrying of music, lyric, physicality. It's one thing to have an incredible singing voice: it's an entirely extraordinary thing to do what Fabian does. She makes the most complex/difficult things seem effortless and guilessly artful. Depending on what mood you're in, here are some of her fan favorites (you might need to pause during reaction on some of these due to copyright) *Caruso* kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIq9iJWwetKKj5I Italian with subtitles Heartbreaking, echoes of the feelz one gets from Je Suis Malade *Perdere l'amore* kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHvCnGdphLSmjrc Italian with subtitles Lost love: defiant and soaring *Songs from Yentl* kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKjVg2x8msdjock English. 8 min long, fully theatrical presentation (Some upbeat, some poignant: all amazing) *Mademoiselle Hyde* kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqa2dZegipmGbq8 Fabian is co-writer English (resist reading tiny subtitles to focus on her little tics during the performance.) Full orchestra and chorale. Gothic x100. (Later, watch the very disturbing music video for it Subject is. . .well, wouldn't want to spoil.) *Broken Vow* kzbin.info/www/bejne/fH-5g2OvgJ14mZo Fabian Co-writer English Heartbreak with soaring vocals and maturity/hope *You're Not From Here* kzbin.info/www/bejne/rV6mq3adqMl1m6M Fabian co-writer On first listen, may not seem as "wow" because there are fewer overt/big pyrotechnics obvious in the song as in something like Adagio, but it's both extremely contained/quieter and extremely difficult. Wonderful. More impressive with each listen. *We Are The Flyers* kzbin.info/www/bejne/rnWzimSNop2FpJY Fabian co-writer Acoustic with just a guitar, bluesy Follows a very cute interview w/story about her hanging up on Babra Streisand. Worth watching the whole thing for insight into her process/background. Only 8 min including song. 2018. That's not even getting into her dance hits. 😉 I made it to middle-age without becoming a fanatic. Ah, well. 😂
