Kasm Workspaces - Ep. 2 - Remote Access (2 Methods)

In this second Kasm Workspaces video we take a look at setting up remote access 2 different ways.
The first method we'll take a look at is via a domain name and a reverse proxy.
The second method will use a ZeroTier network setup.

Been enjoying your videos. I've made the changes you suggested for remote launching of workspaces on my kasm server and it works a treat... but now I can't start workspaces from my local network!!! Is the configuration only work one way?

Hey David! Thanks for the videos always. I have a quick question. How to do this if I have an individual docker container like KASM TOR BROWSER and not the whole KASM workspace? I via Cloudflare I can connect but can't pass the login section but locally I can use KASM TOR and log in normally to it.

I am trying to setup the remote proxy method for this and all my settings match yours, but whenever I launch an application, Kasm just stays stuck at creating secure connection. Would anything need to be done on my cloudflare account or router?

Do you need to create the Kasm server on the same VM where the Nginx Reverse Proxy is? I have 2 VMs, one running a docker image of the Nginx Reverse Proxy and another running just Kasm and I haven't been able to install the SSL certificate for the kasm server. Thanks for the Video.

I think it depends on the reverse proxy. I have Nginx Proxy Manager on a different host than the rest of my stuff and I don't have any issues.

Hey, i performed same configuration (only different port) + cloudflare tunnels. i can reach the workspace but apps stucks on "creating a secure connection" i've already enabled websocket support on cloudflare side any idea?

I would not advise it. I believe they would interfere with each other quite a bit

These are meant to be throw-away containers. That's why the sessions only last 1 hour by default.

Hi, I have Kasm installed on a Rack Nerd (debian vip for $28 a year) along with Cloudflaird - can you make a new video using Cloudflared insted of zerotier?

I run NPM and Kasm on same ubuntu host, NPM is on different docker network, I added docker container what supposed to be exposed on 8443 to world to NPM network. I use hostname of docker container to route traffic with NPM. I can log in to Kasm but when i try to run for example Brawe browser it does not start, in console i have error: net::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID I did try to add the hostname to the Zone as in this video, I tried also the IP of ubuntu and IP of kasm Docker Container but none of them works

I found the problem, as I am using different port then 443, in the Zones I need to also change the port for proxy on bottom, by default it was same port as my custom 8443, but as i am running it via NPM through normal 443 port i had to change it to 443 otherwise it would not be accessible via Internet.

@@nahakuu I think I am having a similar problem. I have kasm going through NPM but I can't get it to work no matter which port I try. I have NPM set up to have host port 4443 to container port 443. I have Kasm using port 8443. I have tried changing that port to 443, 4443, and 8443 and none seem to work.

I Solved my problem. I had to disable ublock origin. Works with port 443

Check the container logs. Credentials should be there

There should be user and admin credentials in the container logs. Sounds like you're logged in as a user and not admin.

Kasm is free but limited usage (5 sessions)

Yeah. So you could setup another VM or buy a license for more users.
