I still prefer the old swing needle meters when it comes to audio. Nothing beats getting an instant and true RMS reading.

That is so true Clem nothing is as cool as a pair of analogue meters swinging to the beat...

Thanks Kasyan TV! I made my own scale and it is GREAT. I used a random 100V voltmeter. The scale is done, but now I have to remove the internal 100V voltage divider and replace it with my 24V voltage divider , and I'll also add a current shunt into it and add a switch to change into voltage or current mode with a push switch. I made it for my lab bench power supply, it's 0-24V, 0-3A - 72W max. It's a project I'm doing on a budget (35 - 50 €), so it's a good thing that I modified a random analog meter rather than buying the right value analog meter. The quality is decent, but not perfect but you get what you pay for. I made it EXACTLY the same way and it is GREAT.

Adam.. That sounds awesome. 👍 the shunt for adding a current meter in the one unit was good thinking👍. I might have to steal it.

this is my 3rd time watch this video, and i'm making a promise to myself to make this meter today!! I have a few of these analog meters on some old car chargers that don't work that i use for parts.. so this is my little project for today. as well as fixing the light bulb in the fridge.. : )

Nice on old power supplies aswel to watch the circuits current draw and general behaviour etc although digital meters are most times more accurate I find it nicer to watch the needles swing than digits jump around.. I was born in 79 so that may have some relevance in this inbuilt fondness for older tech

I like retro vintage tech so using these in my latest project (power supply) will give it a retro vintage look Even though I was born in 06

hi, i have this problem, i have this old voltmeter it is an AEG from the 30s and it has 400v scale but the series resistance was ruined by water damage so my question is: i use the same type of potentiometer to calculate the resistance in series or I look for something bigger Edit: i'm going to use it whith 220v ac

I found this video after searching analog multimeters for a good price. I want to harvest the meter from a multimeter to use for a triple meter CB radio SWR, Modulation and Watt meter. I plan on using a 5 digit led volt meter, amp meter connected to a dc power supply to calibrate the watts I use for the radio.

If another scale is needed which can not be derived from the original scale, there is a great (but complex) software for this purpose called GALVA. Google for F5BU and GALVA.

Jan Lategahn Thanks for that, very nice program that can be used for potentiometer dials, different angle meters, linear scales like a bar graph and, as in my case for a custom circular slide rule scale. Some nice projects too. My car had a dead gauge, the temperature I think it was. I bought a few replacements because they weren’t that costly and discovered that they used stepper motors for the meters, all connected digitally. Couldn’t use these for regular panel gauges without a microcontroller

Your smps designs are not optimised to fully. I took one of your design and post it on all about circuit forums and they pointed out errors. I just blindly built your design and that costs me 2 power MOSFET. I know there must have been my fault too in setup but design was yours. Please don't post such schematic
