12:12 "such cells aren't safe but this isn't entirely true....used in electric vehicles" See that's why they are technically unsafe. You pulled cells out of laptops. Not EV's. Old laptops (new ones are all pouch style lipo's) had cells optimized for energy and not power. Your average laptop cell was 2200mah with a 3A or 4A continuous discharge rate. Rarely did they use cells with more than a 2C discharge as it was just not necessary and you would sacrifice capacity to get near the 3C rate or higher. Cells have advanced a longs ways since then but you are using 10 year old cells for the most part and its safe to assume that if their AC impedance has started to rise into the 50's then 1C is the max discharge you can expect. I think fusing them for 5A was the right way to go, perhaps 4A would have been better but its hard to get the fuse wire that specific. So long as you never push these cells past 1C discharge they are relatively safe especially since you did what no one else does, checked the impedance with a proper milliohm meter and only used the best cells. An application such as this could pull a lot more than 1C if you did not have 16 cells in parallel so even with all the precautions you took a lot of people would rather not put their kids on a toy that has the front engine compartment filled with incendiary bombs. Hopefully the Tesla style cell fusing is enough to prevent anything catastrophic. What would really put those kids at risk is putting some Headway 38120P's in a 4S2P pack. That should be enough current to make the car flip backwards, cracking open the skulls of children the moment any pressure is applied to the acceleration pedal lol

Love the fuses. Seen them been used before. But forgot about them. I would if loved to have seen this video a year ago when my cousin got an old scooter with two 12V 20Ah batteries in series. I told not to a buy lead acid battery operated one. But €60 second hand couldn't stop her. (Greed) (( i forgot to say the batteries were dead and the sealed lead acid type)) I told until I was blue in the face "you need to be prepared to spend good money to get a proper one. 🥱 BUT €60... SAY NO MORE ON THAT. Anyway. I told her buy the proper batteries online. But she didn't want to spend the money two lithium batteries with the same capacity. I told her buy ten cordless drill batteries out of lidels or aldis. And il get the rest to build a battery.(she never got those batteries either. The scooter still doesn't work) But if I saw this video. I would have look online for used laptop battery packs. {YOU CANT HELP SOMEBODY WHO ISN'T PREPARED TO SPEND A PENNY OVER €50🙄😤🥱🤷‍♂️🚫💶 P.S.
