I just want to add on...remember skypiea. Enel and the monks used mantra to see the attacks ahead of time. I mean enel was such a boss at observation haki, he could locate anyone on sky island, and hear what they were say/feeling...like fujitora and the civilians at the end of dressrosa. and mantra as Rayleigh explained is just what sky islanders call observation haki. Haki has levels and teirs, and oda has been showing us that stuff since day 1...I mean shanks called off a seaking with conquerors haki ch 1..Goda is the goat

Sanjis Diable Jamble seems like a friction based attack though. Zoros ashura was clearly a foreshadow to some other properties of Haki as well. "Buddy."

Whitebeard was both old and more importantly sick at the time he fought in the war of Marineford. At one point, he even tried to use conqueror's haki to stop the two executioners from executing Ace but his sickness kept him from unleashing his full powers at the war. The moment when Squard stabbed him with a sword Marco stated that WB is so sick that he can't use his observation to predict such a normal attack. As for Shanks, it was hinted at, when him and Whitebeard have met in Whitebeard's ship that Shanks lost his arm on purpose. He said I made a bet on the new era. When Luffy was so eager to join Shanks in his journey, Shanks kept telling him that he's still a kid and the sea is a dangerous place .. Later he saved him from a seaking sacrificing his arm so that he can show him how dangerous the sea is as well as motivate him / inspire him to grow stronger to become a fine pirate.

@@khaleed95 if you've watched anime for a number of years, you get used to the way they speak, and that's how they speak in anime. He didn't mean he literally lost it on purpose. Plus, it makes zero narrative sense for Shanks to lose his arm on purpose in that situation. He lost it trying to save Luffy's life. That's otherwise frankly sociopathic. Also, Oda said that Shanks losing an arm was a late suggestion by an editor, so Oda had never planned for that to happen in the first place.

Everyone with observation has the ability to see into the future if they train it. People can have both observation and armament haki however they could specialize in one more than the other. Depends on how they train with it luffy is more balanced out out he uses all forms of haki equally, sanjis observation is stronger in observation than armament while, zoro is stronger with his armament.

Katakuri is kind of like the vice captain of the big mom pirates. He trained his observation haki that far. All of the strongest characters mastered Haki but always there are some who master one of the haki to the next level (e.i. Katakuri masters observation, and other characters might appear in the future chapters who master armament and so on) and luffy will learn from them.

Nah, the seeing into the future stuff with observation Haki has been displayed before. Remember when Luffy was being trained by Rayleigh in the midst of the time skip, Rayleigh was telling Luffy the direction that the elephant was going to striking him from. We can go even further, back to Amazon Lilly, when Boa's sisters, Marrygold and Sandersonia were also predicting where Luffy was going to hit them before he even raised his hand to do so.

There are various levels of the three types of haki and there is a lot of things that it can do if a person trains that specific type. Like Armament Haki in the most basic form is like an invisible armor, but a more advanced users like Luffy and Zoro can turn their arms/swords black making them stronger than at the basic level. There's going to be more on haki advancement in the future episode since the episodes is just leading up to those far advanced users.

Not really a spoiler but there are advanced forms of haki, they've been alluded to before this point but weren't exactly named. Haki is like a muscle that can be trained. Of course, the Yonkou are freaks and have it strong by default but realistically anyone can train their haki to an advanced level if they try hard enough (Which is what Katakuri did). Luffy is proficient in his usage but except for G4, it's only still a basic level compared to people like Katakuri for example

Big mom IS stronger than Katakuri (maybe even far stronger) but it doesn't mean she can use future sight Haki. I like the idea of Katakuri being the only top dog who trained his haki that much. Not all the strong characters need to have trained the same way !

It seems that slightly seeing the future already happened to Luffy in Marineford when he saw Mihawk cutting his hands/arms if he continues his attack. So it's not really new, but maybe, Oda just planned to explore more about it in the future, together with other yet-to-be-explained powers in OP.

You can 100% be yonko without having future sight and still be more well topped off than those who do. Being yonko isn’t just your personal power but connections, resources and ability to provoke change in the new world. Big mom is particularly strong because of her connections and resources while kaido is physically stronger and shanks is more well versed in haki.

If you think seeing the future with the observation haki is new you don't pay attention to the details haha. Remember when Luffy wanted to go against Mihawk at Marineford ? He saw him cut his arms so he didn't stratched. That was a foreshadowing of the observation haki development !

Both Armament and Observation Haki have a more advanced forms if trained further you'll see what I mean

The yonkos could learn that haki if they dont have it already but you have to make an effort to learn how to do that and since most of the yonko were monsters anyway they didnt need to learn
