Pudding was not deceiving sanji with that kiss, she really wanted to kiss him but she decided to erase that memory because she didnt want sanji to feel some sort of obligation towards her. She doesnt want sanji to know that she really fell in love with him so that he can continue his journey

Easily my favourite ending episode for an arc ever. This episode showed the true themes of the arc in all its glory; love. Love between tragic lovers that went through hell and misunderstanding, tragically never once being on the same page until the very last second. Love between siblings whose bond goes deeper than appearances, impressions and familial expectations. Love between a true father and son, not bound together by blood but by experiences and hardships, by ideals and fantastical dreams. And of course, there’s the love between nakama, unconditional through and through. This episode is one of many in this arc to make me cry. Hope you enjoyed WCI!

It's a little understated but Pudding's ending here has always felt like one of the most poignant moments in the series for me. This poor girl had spent her whole life with walls up, convinced she'd never be truly loved for who she really is, and the moment that pretense is broken, she's forced to give it up and return to her old ways. Things'll probably be even harder now that she's got a taste of what's out there for her :(

Episode 877 is one of the most beautiful episodes in the entire series! The Soul Pocus song is just an incredibly and beautiful song that represents a lot of the aspects of the arc. The Carrot and Pudding scenes were very sad, the scene with Katakuri and Brulee was great for their characters, and the final scene with Zeff and Sanji is perfect to finish the arc.

Remember when Flampe was introduced and it was revealed that 40 out of the 41 brothers voted for her as best sister. Well now we indirectly know who didn't vote for her. It was Katakuri and he voted for Brulee instead!

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but this arc showcased all of Sanji's qualities in such a great light. Judge thinks Sanji's love for cooking, his kindness, and his fawning over women are his weaknesses, but his love for cooking allayed Big Mom's hunger pangs, his kindness saved Germa and who in turn gave the crew enough time to escape, and his love for women brought Pudding over to their side.

There is an important detail that many people misses on the Sanji x Pudding kissing scene that adds a lot more flavor to the scene. You see, back in the wedding , Sanji and Pudding did all the ceremonial speeching and the event was interrupted right before the kiss. The willing kiss between the lovers seals the marriage rite. And thats what happened in this scene. It wasn't just a kiss. Pudding and Sanji married, but she took away his memory because didn't want to hold him back. She is the only person that know that. I can't wait for the final chapters of One Piece, when Pudding gives him back his memory and Sanji finds out that all this time, he had a wife waiting for him.

What makes this moment even sadder is that Pudding uses “sayonara”. Unlike other phrases like “jya nee” or “matta nee” which mean “see you later”, “sayonara” is more permanent, more like “goodbye forever”. Pudding took Sanji’s final memories away while accepting that she’ll never see Sanji ever again after this moment

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS EPISODE SO MUCH! Sanji and carrot scene.. not everytime we get a major death character and WCI gave us.. Sanji and Pudding scene…. IMAGINE ODA MAKE PUDDING DELETE ALL HIS MEMORIES ABOUT HER? I would have a niagara tears brooo. Katakuri and brulee??!!!? THE BEST SIBLING BONDS RELATIONSHIP IN ONE PIECE. Remember the flampe said she almost got everyone vote for her as the best sister except one? Yes Kata voted for Brulee. Also a reminder that brulee, mad at strawhats for hurting katakuri, when in fact we all know how the strawhats treated her as an escape tool for the whole arc 😂 she doesn’t even mad at those but again just like she was young, she put his brother importance above herself. ❤ Sanji and Zeff scene….. it shows us that not everytime blood is thicker than water.. And the musical bittersweet ending? I love it so much. WCI gave us something new, not full sadness ending or happiness ending but a bittersweet ending that makes us question everything.. I dunno if it was brought up yet, but Oda revealed in the SBS that Katakuri wasn't born with a disfigured mouth (maybe the fangs, but not the mouth shape). It got like that because of how often he stretched his mouth eating his favorite donuts. But yeah, it's sweet (no pun intended) to see Brulee cared so much for who he *really* is, and not the *idea* of him, like Flampe did. That's some TRUE sibling love there, if I do say so myself. 😉

Curious that this arc has brought two sibling relations like Katakuri and Brulee and Sanji and Reiju, both seemed more similar to me than what they saw at first glance, the older one seems to be someone cold and reserved, but he still protects the younger one, and I end up showing that they loved them very much

couple of things. 18:40 so the reason pudding shot reiju is because 1 reiju was snooping on pudding trying to find out about her cause she was concerned about sanji and 2 they were gonna test the bullets out on one of them no matter what because if you try to kill them with ineffective bullets then you're screwed when you show your true colors at the wedding

I think Big Mom's children are kinda interesting in that, even though they are involved with doing terrible things, you can sorta tell that if they werent raised in such a rough and oppressive environment, many of them would likely be kind and caring people. Katakuri obviously mainly cares about the well-being of his siblings, as one of the oldest, and even Perospero is shown to worry about Brulee in this episode.

This is one of the episodes that proves Oda's genius, when we think it's over and there won't be anything more, he comes and gives a practically perfect flashback to Katakuri, further increasing the respect that Oda has already shown us have for him, and to finish Brulee where Oda shows a completely different side of her, and all this in a single chapter. And the last scene of Sanji and Zeff sharing in practice the same principles, principles of father and son, at the same time in different places, this scene represents the complete antithesis of Sanji's relationship with Jugde, Oda always knows how to finish an end arch almost perfectly. I keep this chapter in my memory in the same way as when Oda did exactly the same thing in the last episode of Arlong Park. We didn't need to know what that weathervane was, nor did Gen-san need to have such relevance at the moment, then Oda comes and says that Gen always used the pinwheel as symbolism for Nami, he always keeps her miling, and when she finally found her family with Luffy, Gen retired the pinwheel because he no longer needed to keep Nami smiling in that situation, she was truly happy with her family. At the end of the arc, Oda always shines more than usual, and Whole Cake was no different. Sorry.

WCI Arc are filled with love.. Parents-children, brothers-sisters, husband-wife.. How Pound sacrifice himself for Chiffon, Katakuri Brulee and Sanji Reiju, Bege Chiffon and Praline Aladdin.. even the tree (Kingbaum) have a fiancee bro. At the same time we also have toxic relationships like how Linlin and Judge treated their own children.. we lost too many lives at WCI Arc was the thing that I wasn't expected at all (Pedro, Pound, Pekoms - all of their names start with P... shit😬) I even cried for a f**king tree😭

My theory is that pudding asked Sanji if she were to ask him to stay with her, would he? So in onder to avoid having Sanji having that memory weigthing on him, she dediced to take it out so he could go back to the straw hats without anything keeping him back. Its probably why that memory hurts Pudding much more than it does Sanji, as she puts his own happiness over hers.

The story of Whole Cake Island was the first challenge by Eiichiro Oda to skillfully incorporate moe - feelings of attraction - into the story. One of them, tsundere, was depicted through a shocking two-step change in which Pudding, who was revealed to have the devil's back face, unexpectedly falls in love and is unable to honestly express her feelings to Sanji. The other type of moe, sister moe, is also portrayed in an unpredictable way through the contrast between the two younger sisters, Flampe and Brulee. When we first saw Brulee, who could have predicted that we would get attracted to her as an adorable little sister? As a Japanese One Piece fan, I am always watching over you two on your long long journey. Enjoy the next episode!
