Here is an earlier project of mine, when I had no power tools. It is a Wakizashi made with 1095 high carbon steel. The blade shape is an Unokubi Zukuri design, which has a upper swedge on the spine of the blade. The fittings are all made with brass and the handle is wrapped with leather.

I, as a sword enthusiast, after watching hundreds of videos making Japanese sword from KZbin, never found one who nails the look of the Yokote and the Kissaki. Apart from the techniques not being traditional, which is the least important factor, this does amazes me for the first time. Excellent work.

For the longest time I've thought, "ugh, I need a belt grinder and a forge and a good anvil" whereas you're using a few propane torches, a cast iron vice and some handheld power tools to make a simplistic but beautiful sword! I am going to straighten out those leaf springs in my cupboard, cut them to size and hot roll them to length. Thanks for the motivation, my man.
