Gilak claims to have the tribe's best interests but after reading this story, it seems more like he was just looking for another battle to fight.

in the end he was the savage the north was claiming his tribe to be when the actual tribe leader was trying to prove them wrong and was managing to do it and solve the problem so the south is not subjulgated by the north. but gilak couldnt see past his own anger.

How can Toph see on the south pole? The serpents pass established that her seismic sense doesn't work on ice. There's land below a thick layer of ice in the south pole but does that mean they drilled down below the ice layer to surprise them?

i thought of the same but i think vibrations of the drills were already strong enough for Toph to feel regardless of the structure of the ground

Maybe the vibrations of earth under the ground helped her if she like hit the snow very hard she could feel it. Just like in sand but snow on earth is harder. And I think only Toph can feel those vibrations the best so she is probably the only person able to earthbend there I THINK?

In the Si Wong Desert, Toph is able to feel the vibrations of the sand sailor made of wood just by kicking it. In LoK, it's said she could sense the entire world at that point. Her seismic sense seems to be vibration more broadly.
