New album, Sky Void of Stars, out NOW!
Listen here: lnk.to/KAT-Sky...
KATATONIA on the new album, Sky Void of Stars:
“Our 12th album, Sky Void of Stars is a dynamic journey through vibrant darkness. Born out of yearning for what was lost and not found, the very peripheries of the unreachable, but composed and condensed into human form and presented as sounds and words true to the KATATONIA signum. No stars here, just violent rain.”

Katatonia is so different from other bands. The voice so peaceful in the most chaotic and dark atmosphere. I have so many memories from listening this band since years ago. But just because their music was there makes it more tolerable. Sometimes all we have is just an album to go through difficulties and makes so much different than having nothing. Thanks to this band.

Birds have been a constant since their JHVA Elohim Meth days. The opening line of Without God contains the lyrics "human birds watch the sky". Along with cities, it's been one of their most reoccurring conceptual themes (as opposed to themes of depression and darkness).

'92 saw the (first official) release of "Jhva Elohim Meth" but there's no month of release listed on Metal Archives. 179 I'm not sure, but the 218 seems to be when their hiatus was started following their tour in early 2018 (although the last date was 3/2 and not in February). Really? I don't like them nearly as much as the 3 singles from City Burials. Not even close to me. Laquer for example is so unique, the other ones are harder but immediately stick in your ear. Birds I don't like at all, austerity I needed so many replays to get a feel for it. Atrium is the best. Never had that with any of the previous singles they released from previous albums. But that's just me, they're still great songs to me, just not as good when compared to previous albums.

I want to express my gratitude for this beautiful song, so thankful to have seen you guys play this live, a few nights ago in Limerick, an incredible performance, an otherworldly experience truthfully. I have a sacred friendship with birds, crows in particular, so your music, this song has become very important to me. I struggle to detail in words just how important your songs, your sound have become for me, a lifeline, my therapy, I am incredibly appreciative. Your music allows a space where inner darknesses can be confronted, dealt with, a safe space where old wounds, emotions are revealed and hope, some kind of peace can grow from the scars, a sort of acceptance is born. I have always struggled to find a place in this world but felt music has and will always grant me a safe home, thank you again for this gift, it gives such light, comfort. Peaceful and loving blessings from Ireland 💚 enjoy the rest of the tour, hope to see ye guys again🤘

Each single released to date has been superb. I cannot wait for the album to be released. Jonas is a master songwriter and vocalist and I’m transported to another world listening to Katatonia. I was fortunate to see them a few months ago and their set was epic. 2023 is off to a good start musically!

Best song in the album alongside with Atrium and Austerity in my opinion! I wish there were more with this kind of haunting melodies and riffs but sadly this is the only one. Oh well, anyway Katatonia rules!

Yooooo. I loved these guy's from the first time I heard Viva Emptiness in 2004. I swear they make depression such a lovely experience. When I felt Sevendust was going away from their sound Katatonia went deeper into theirs. Fav album hmmm. They all hit differently. I really love Discouraged ones man it has a local band raw awesome feel! I love all their album can't pick. I also love that no one else I know likes their music cause it means I can have they all to myself.

Man Katatonia just produce gold it's unreal I've been listening to them since The Great Cold Distance have never been disappointed. Feels like they're evolving every album but sound wise it still sounds like Katatonia so I've never been disappointed. Jonas' vocals are incredible. Can't wait to hear what they bring out next!

Saw them live with SOM and Gost a couple weeks back. Too good! They played 5 tracks off the new record including this one. Yo and they played 4 tracks off Dead End Kings which is my favorite record ever and when I discovered them. They came back out at the end for a triple encore and ended the set with Evidence off the Viva Emptiness record, the only song I sang the entire evening lol. Such a great experience and so happy I finally got to see them live after all these years.
