As you can see From diaries in his phone, everything related between them gets erased very unfortunately but one thing that even moon god musubi can't erase is the feelings to each other, the I love you was a feeling of passion between each other not just a name or a way of clearly remembering somebody. This feeling was jUST like that red string of fate, interpreting the feelings from Mitsuha, mitsuhas soul is in that string and same as that I love you, takis love and feelings to mitsuha all concentrated into those three words.
