Okay Trinis use a lot of French Caribbean terms like "fete" in Haiti means party and "zaboca" means avocado in Haiti too and my ex boyfriend family who from Grenada and my childhood best friend also from Grenada and family from Dominica say "wi" a lot just like us. For example "Yuh gettin fat wi!" or sumn lol. Some of the slang n dialect n creoles between our islands are very similar but unique as well 😆

You don't speak Trini, it's still english. I'm American, and how I mimicked my Father, and Mother's accent to sound like Trini, and now I do. I still have my American accent.

This is great. It brings back so many memories for me growing up in T'dad. I'm surprised that so many of the expressions haven't changed. Great job. Keep it up, make us proud.

I heard somewhere that the term Lime or limin come from back in the day when trini's use to rub lime on their skin when hanging out with friends outside and on the beach or something to keep away mosquitoes, etc and it just started being called limin. idk if that is True true but i can see the connection. lol

You can find lime in a dictionary and one of its meanings is Lime -> (as a verb) sit or stand around talking with others "boys and girls were liming along the roadside as if they didn't have anything to do", Lime -> (as a noun) an informal social gathering characterized by semi-ritualized talking.

Who doesn't love doubles? And when you live in a country where you can't have them unless you cook them yourself they somehow manage to get better
