Kate performs "Running Up That Hill" with David Gilmour in 1987.
Lyrics:
It doesn't hurt me
Do you want to feel how it feels?
Do you want to know; know that it doesn't hurt me?
Do you want to hear about the deal that I'm making?
You
It's you and me
And if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
Be running up that road
Be running up that hill
Be running up that building
Say, if I only could, oh...
You don't want to hurt me
But see how deep the bullet lies
Unaware I'm tearing you asunder
Oh there is thunder in our hearts
Is there so much hate for the ones we love?
Tell me we both matter, don't we?
You
It's you and me
It's you and me, won't be unhappy
And if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
Be running up that road
Be running up that hill
Be running up that building
Say, if I only could, oh...
You
It's you and me
It's you and me, won't be unhappy
Come on baby
Come on darling
Let me steal this moment from you now
Come on angel
Come on, come on darling
Let's exchange the experience, ooh...
And if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
Be running up that road
Be running up that hill
With no problems
Say if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
Be running up that road
Be running up that hill
With no problems
Say if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
Be running up that road
Be running up that hill
With no problems
Say if I only could
Be running up that hill
With no problems
If I only could
Be running up that hill
If I only could
Be running up that hill

I quote: . when the band’s guitarist came across the strange and beguiling voice of a teenager by the name of Kate Bush, he dropped what he was doing and made it his missions to sign her. It just so happens, what he was doing was creating one of Floyd’s undying albums in 1975’s . With his guidance, Kate Bush was able to become an icon of British music and challenge Pink Floyd for their unique crown.

@@DJFalkoHannover Look, I like Kate Bush, and yes she was discovered by David Gilmour because he was taken by her talent. But in no way shape or form she challenged Pink Floyd. What he was doing was creating one of the band's undying albums with Waters. They started recording Wish You Were Here at the end of 1974-start of 1975. Kate Bush is great don't get me wrong. But Pink Floyd is... Well... Pink Floyd.

For any new young fan's of Kate, the guitarist Dave Gilmore of the group Pink Floyd discovered Kate when she was about 14 in the early 1970's. When she came to the recording studio she turned up with over 200 self written songs. The best of these were used for her first two albums when she was finally revealed to the world in 1978.

I always love how people from England actually use the English language unlike us modern day Americans who butcher it. I mean the days of Poe etc are long gone. Quoth the yank nevermore.

Wouldnt be so quick to pass judgement if you heard the average sentence come out of the 'typical'(in the loosest possible definition) Londoner these days.....bruv.

Wow, what an amazing performance. Rock legend (Dave Gilmour) gives his own special treatment to what was then one of the most popular contemporary tracks. Shows the vocal verstatility of Kate Bush who was equally at ease with thundering rock riffs. No crazy antics, no suggestive dance moves, no revealing clothes...just pure TALENT!!! What a lovely combo

Entirely disagree; the dissonance of that alternative instrument playing that most iconic of originals is distracting to a fault.

@@generalyellor8188 I entirely disagree with your assessment. In the 80s when this song came on the radio, I'd change the f'ing station. It was just whiny synth-pop. But this version with Tony Franklin and David Gilmour rocks! I'd have bought this version. I was never a Kate Bush fan, but this is exceptional. The video quality is better here (still not great) but the cleaned up audio on the HDPinkFloyd KZbin channel really showcases Tony's driving, growling bass and David's sizzling guitar tone. She seems to be enjoying it too.
