During the 1970's, I was completely in love with Joni Mitchell and Ann Wilson. In the 1980's it was Kate. God, she's just incredible!

The first few Kate Bush albums are sensational and this is a great example of that. She looked and sounded unlike anything that had ever come before, and most of her music she wrote herself. Here she is stunning audiences 7 years before Lady Gaga was born. She has also been smart enough to release her albums sparingly since the mid 1980s and they are almost always well received. She also hates publicity and is something of an enigma, rarely appearing in the UK newspapers although I gather that she has quite a sense of humour, especially about herself. I'm not sure if she had much success in the U.S and her music may not be to everyone's taste but I reckon a juke box musical could be fashioned out of her biggest hits

It seems to me that, from 1980 onwards, Kate Bush's songs tended to only implicitly reference 'rock and roll' via dance or via progressive rock. But songs like Don't Push Your Foot on the Heartbrake and James and the Cold Gun show that she could be a 'bona fide' rocker too. The real deal in every sense.

@oddn Because of her intention to dance as she sang, her sound engineers used a wire coat hanger and a radio microphone to fashion the first headset mic to be used by a rock performer, at least since the Swedish group Spotnicks used a very primitive version in the early 1960s.[1][26]

It's a pre-recorded 'live' version, so she can do the dance but give it an overall 'live' feel! She did this with Hammer Horror so she could concentrate on the dance. There's no way she could have danced that one and sung live!
@adolforodolfo69298 ай бұрын
@@fionamaddock3984 She did sing this live (and dance) on the 1979 Tour of Life - but she isn't singing live here. And you're right about Hammer Horror, even on the Tour of Life she lip-synched that one because it was too difficult to dance and sing at the same time.

Panoramica Testo Ascolta Risultati principali Emma's come down. She's stopped the light Shining out of her eyes. Emma's been run out on. I thought I was just imagining things but has it occurred to anyone else that the infamous Madonna has copied Kate in many ways ESPECIALLY from Kate’s performances? For example look up Madonna’s Confessions tour and the song “Sorry “. Also in the very old 1985 concerts of Madonna’s had two dancers with her....anyone recall Kate’s “Violin” video? Hmmmm...🤨🤔 And they say Gaga has copied a pioneer called Madonna? 🤨
