Two of my mates went to see one of her gigs, possibly at Manchester. I think it was 1979. I couldn't make the gig but promised myself I would catch her next time. Little did I know she wouldn't tour again for almost 40 years.

Kate is incredible, people rave on about Adele but this is where it started and for me is where it still is ! She is the best and rightly so ! An all round artist ... KB is the best and always will be X

Crazy to think it took Kate another 35 years to tour again.

She never did tour again, though in 2014 did do a string of 22 dates at London's Hammersmith Apollo, playing to about 80,000.

@@MrCherryJuice did try and get tickets but failed. Would love to have seen her live. Do you think she will ever sing live again? I don’t think so.
@MrCherryJuiceАй бұрын
@@welshlad6427 I don't think she will do anything quite so ambitious again, though I wouldn't be surprised if she did something scaled back - her on piano with just a few accompanying players and minus the choreography, playing her quieter tunes.

@@MrCherryJuice I’d still try and see her even if scaled down.

Hilarious to see Mr Wolfie Smith worrying about the unions at 0:50 - not a threat at all of course.

The Bush puffing on a fag is a revelation. Proper woman with oodles of talent to spare. God's gift to music-loving straight men and women of a certain persuasion. Lovely throwback video.

I wanted to photograph Kate Bush for a regional magazine.. I found myself dealing with a very uncooperative 'manager' whose name will surely come back to me. It quickly became very clear that Kate, herself had no say whatsoever. She was not 'managed'.... she was obviously under the absolute 'control' of a very unpleasant woman. Such a shame!

It all depends on when you wanted to photograph her. In her early days she set up her own publishing company, Kate Bush Music, (We share the same initials) and her own Management Company, Novercia. Members of her family along with Kate herself, composed the board of directors. She may have had a negative attitude towards 'photographers' as EMI had capitalised on Kate's appearance by promoting her first album with a poster which showed Kate wearing a tight pink-top which emphasised her breasts. (I had that poster on my wall). This annoyed her as she was trying to sell herself as a musical artist and not just a body who sang songs.

Back in the 70s many people still retained remnants of the Hippy look. Kate was also in with David Gilmore so you would expect most her male associates wore similar styles to that of mid-70s Floyd. Notice the TV announcer at the start wearing an old jumper and denim jacket, and the ubiquitous old lady who wanders into shot. She was a staple of many news clips of the mid-to-late seventies. Legend has it, that it was the same woman in the background of every news report. Possibly the woman on the back of the Abbey Road LP sleeve.

@@KebabMusicLtd People still retain remnants of the Hippy look in 2024. Yes I know of that lady, was her job to set up the camera equipment and she is on the Abbey Road cover. Also, that dart board is way too high, just annoying.
