It doesn't mention that she hadn't actually read the book at that time but got inspiration from watching just part of a BBC adaptation of it on tv. Incredible mind and talent

Alas, social media.or misread...I read the Book before listening to the song. To my young ears it encapsulated my interpretation of the book. Amazing. Fantabulous. Visited the WILEY moors myself. Nailed it. Too bad so sad for you...I highly encourage you a reread and a relisten! Teacher in Montreal! Enjoy! ❤❤❤

I discovered Kate Bush very early on.. possibly 81/82? I can't remember. I listened to a very progressive radio station in Ohio and I actually won a contest on I think it was Rock Over London? where I answered a question about Wuthering heights. I missed hearing my name called and got a prize of a (tbh) really ugly promotional sweatshirt from the Hounds of Love Album. But she has always been my favorite... NO one except one friend of mine actually knew her material adn for years I just enjoyed her in my own little world. Fast forward to after the Stranger Things series.. and Running Up that Hill exploded again and I was listening to Kate Bush at my Kroger supermarket... LOL. Surreal.

After all these years we can safely say that Kate Bush's explosion onto the music scene was unique. She remains one of the truly exceptional artists. There's a special symbolism to her invocation of the Brontes as the start of an unparalleled artistic career. Like Kate the Bronte sisters broke a mold and left, we can now say, an indelible mark on English literature. Beyond that, Howarth is a stunning place; to be seen to be believed. The beauty of the town, nestled in the wild, forbidding, Yorkshire moors must have, somehow, inspired the Bronte sisters.

Kate exists in the tradition of Emily Dickinson and Sam Beckett, imagining consciousness in death. Everything taken together, one of the most important artists in years and more years!

Wuthering Heights was the first literary English classic book i read at 24, and it will always be special for that reason. Kata Bushes Wuthering Heights brought the characters to life. I also read Heathcliff, Return to Wuthering Heights. It is written about the 4 years Heathcliff went away.

Thank you for posting this.wonderful video. I did not know that Kate Bush had her poem to Emily Bronte carved into Ogden Kirk, on the stones in the hills of Yorkshire...just beautiful. "She stands outside A book in her hands “Her name is Cathy”, she says “I have carried her so far, so far Along the unmarked road from our graves I cannot reach this window Open it, I pray.” But his window is a door to a lonely world That longs to play. Ah Emily. Come in, come in and stay." @lees9410 Scored her contract with a song she wrote at 13 "Man With The Child In His Eyes". Recorded at 16 as part of a 3 track demo financed by Dave Gilmour. She'd written around 50 songs by the time Dave met her at age 15. Wrote most of her first two albums before that. All but 4 songs including this, which she wrote at 18. Child songwriting genius. Also plays piano.

The explanation about the wiley moore is outright bonechilling. I think this documentation underscores Kates incredible way to empathize, to feel what others feel. I had also similar impressions with Cat Stevens Sad Lisa.
