This is beautiful and heart-rending at the same time. Our cat occasionally brings shrews in (unharmed) and we can release them back safely. They are amazing, delicate little creatures and the association between a shrew and and a child trapped in war makes perfect sense.

I am going to have to say, and as an ancient K8T fan the song is wondrous, I have never felt more invested in the fate of an animated character in my life. I thought the little guy had died but then saw he wasn't I actually let out a little cheer. I have taken my time to comment on "Little Shrew." I first listened to it, and watched the video on the day of release and have turned to it on a number of occasions ever since. It is a very effective production and I have to say that while I have always regarded the video for "This Woman's Work" as Kate Bush's best and most effective official video, I do think that this video now probably has to take that spot for me, at least for the moment. I have always really adored the original song "Snowflake" for its own qualities, but also, among other things, because she released it with a mistake in it. And so I was intrigued by what she might do with it for this. I do prefer the original full version of the song to this truncated version, but the video more than makes up for my feelings in that regard. Kate Bush remains an artist, who thinks seriously about her music, takes the whole process seriously, and wants her music to have meaning. Agree or not with everything she has ever expressed, to me she remains one of the good guys, and even at this quite late stage in her almost 50 year career she retains the power to truly move people and not just entertain them - and that is a rare gift. Thanks Kate. Welcome back. Now for the album. Breath bated.
