I saw you coming into the café
I was surprised because today was Tuesday
The hostess winked at me and led you to my section
I gathered my wits and a coffee urn and headed for your table
I smiled and asked “Would you like a cup?”
He smiled back and nodded and I handed him a menu
He decided to order the special and a piece of pie for dessert
I turned and walked towards the kitchen and the hostess joined me there

The hostess says
“Will you please just give him your number?”
She puts her hands on her hips and stares at me intently
“But what if he doesn’t feel the same way about me?”

He asks for the bill and so I print it out
I write my number and a note: Maybe call me sometime
I place it on his table and I head back to the kitchen
