This was one of the coolest places ive ever explored. it was awesome to see how the rich live. I can’t believe something like this can just go Abandoned. It was on the market for awhile but they just kind of gave up on trying to sell it. Who knows what it’s fate will be now.

@@clemrose9720 I assumed he was cracking a joke. It read that way. There's a house near me that looked abandoned but turned out it had an elderly guy living there and the house is neglected. I can tell you accurately that moving into this house, between normal utility cost, property upkeep and property taxes the house alone is going to eat the first 50,000 dollars of your annual income. Weather, insects and normal wear and tear are all going to require substantial investments of not just money but tremendous amounts of time and energy.

Exactly. To see something this beautiful and to think that it may end up deteriorating for lack of care. 2 mil is a steal. Especially for all this house had to offer. Landscaping wasn't as bad as expected for 8 years abandonment. For the most part only damage I saw was in the gym and theatre area, but both of those are detrimental because it's water damage. Actually that is a misconception. Yes mould can cause illness but you must be exposed to it and breathing in the spores. We breathe mould with every breathe every day, if you have a mould issue that is black mould as people refer to it as over 10 square feet and you are doing a tear out your going to need protection and complete a mould remediation. Just walking through a home that’s fairly clean and unoccupied you are not going to breathe in any mould you weren’t before entering.

It does seem like a waste, but you can also look at it in another way. That is, in fact, spreading the wealth like it should be done. A wealthy person spends a ton of money building that place. The number of jobs created in so many areas to build that place, and all the other hardware to put into it. I was a Scissor lift back in a closet in the basketball court. A company had to make that. The bowling alley, some other company made. All that crap, hundreds of companies and thousands of workers were used to build and stock up that house with everything. If course a big old place like that also means high property taxes to be paid. You're not going to put homeless people here for a number of reasons. That's just laughable and this place would be a dump in no time flat and then they would all be kicked out as it would be unsafe. Kate Hudson I'm sure is living in some other HUGE place and spreading her wealth there. This place shouldn't be left abandon to rot. It's still in really good shape. The black mold in the Basketball court can be cleaned up. The seats in the theater replaced. The TV screens around the place and other things can be updated. Why not sell for say 2 million? Better than rotting away to be worth nothing. Another million to repair and update the place. This, of course, creates more jobs for many people. Then to take care of the place, you'll need to hire a couple people to work there full time. I think at least that one small room door stairs looked like it could have been for 1 staff person. So that's a few more jobs created, plus property taxes continuing to come in. All the furniture you need to fill that place back up, that is made by a bunch of other people. The rich are buying high-end stuff, not cheap crap. This is really how you need to look at it.

@theopinionisthighqualityopinio
@theopinionisthighqualityopinio 5 жыл бұрын
@veronica carlson Veronica Carlson, it's really ironic that you're giving me a lecture about volunteering with the homeless. I was homeless myself for FOUR LONG YEARS, without a shelter to go to, nor a car to sleep in. I'm an American who has lived in Italy for the past twenty one years and before two of my three children were kidnapped by my ex husband and brought to Italy (where I didn't see them from the ages of 6 and 7 until they sought me out at age 18), I had spent the first 40 years of my life as a member of the infamous 1%. My parents brought me up doing volunteer work from a young age and though most of it wasn't done with people who were strictly homeless, I did volunteer for five years, three full days a week, at GMHC (Gay Men's Health Crisis) in Manhattan and a small number of the people we helped were homeless. After my children were kidnapped, I came immediately to Italy to try to find them. Thinking it would be rather simple, I brought relatively little money with me. The way that my brother managed to steal my inheritance from me, thus leaving me penniless and homeless on the streets of Italy is a story that's way too long and circuitous to recount here. When I found myself homeless and penniless here, I had to (for the first time in my life) depend completely upon myself. During these four years I was kidnapped by a stranger, held in an abandoned camper for three days, raped violently and repeatedly and almost lost my life. As it is, I was fortunate enough to have gotten away with ONLY Hepatitis C, a detached retina and blindness in my right eye, and a lovely case of PTSD. Oh! I forgot the nice scar over my right eye that reminds me of the event every time I see myself in the mirror. I was lucky enough, during my first year of being homeless, to have found my true soul mate and the love of my life. The two of us then spent the next THREE YEARS being homeless, again with no car and no shelter. He wasn't even able to receive his government pension because he had no address. We spent many nights sleeping on a sleeping bag, spread out on the ground, under the overhang of the porch of a Catholic church. The priest asked us one morning, "Why don't you just go home? Why do you sleep here every night?" Kind of incredible, isn't it? We were finally assigned an apartment by the housing authority of the City of Milano, but that was only after we'd spent another five years living in a private community run by former Communist priests who had finally" come out" politically, after retirement. My twin soul /husband died on June 30th, 2016 of cancer, after a painful two year battle to beat it ended. He no longer has a life and I no longer have him to comfort me when I wake up screaming in the middle of the night from PTSD. So, Veronica, the next time you want to open your mouth to give someone (a perfect stranger, at that!) a lecture about "doing volunteer work at a homeless shelter", think twice about it. I suggest that you get down from your high horse and give some thought to the fact that you have no earthly idea to whom you're speaking here, nor do you have any idea about the personal life experience that your interlocutor may have had. In short, Veronica, you have a hell of a lot of nerve to tell me, of all people, to volunteer (or anything else for that matter!) when I'm now suffering with cirrhosis of the liver from the Hep C that my rapist gave me, PTSD, and a host of other physical and mental after effects of my four years on the street. Veronica, I guess what I'm really trying to tell you is to shut the f*ck up and pick your targets better. With me, after what I've lived through, it won't wash. Bitch!!

Water damaged floors in the lower level: theater, single room across from theater, remote closet. Room before the attic looked like the floor was torn up or recently replaced.

What BS to the extreme. He shows a clip of the movie that CLEARLY shows a bowling alley and then acts all Shocked that it's there. This house is NOT abandoned. It is not lived in. So, every empty house out there on the market is abandoned? I didn't see any dust in the house so it is minimally cared for. This guy is so boring. Did he break in or some realtor let him in.

Stuff like this just pisses me off!! This is just a complete waste of resources and space!! There are homeless people out there that have no place to live, while houses like this all over the country lie empty!! Makes me mad to see stuff like this!!

Our society has nothing to do with anything. The majority are working class.......they dont leave abandoned mansions all over. They are our society. That mansion represents a tiny minority of ppl with more $$. I'm happy to be what I am. Let them have their stupid politics, divorces, mental illnesses and such.

@@lemankurtz8950 Yes it does rep the working class : who do you think. paid for it??? Who do you think supported the "actors" career. Working class wastes their life for this through supporting movies / products that hollyweird promoted which supports this lifestyle...so many people also will say this wasteful lifestyle is gross but will go right back into society judging others who they see are not "well off" = "important".

@@marleyg2850 Okay.....I think maybe you have a good point in there, but your subject is off. This is a video of an abandoned mansion.....where ONE piece of a movie was shot. Most of these urban-exploration vids are of Large, abandoned houses......Not HOLLYWEIRD houses as you put it. This house has about as much to do with Hollywood as You or I.......see what I was saying now? Also, I'm not sure how many working class ppl like the ones I know, support anything coming out of Hollywood, especially in the last 4 years or so. Have a good one.

I wouldnt buy it for even 1mil. When you can see black mold, you can bet those spores are throughout that entire house. They float and cling and spread like the plague. That means the entire place would need to be a tear out. Every single wall. That would cost more then the house will ever sell for...

You can fix all that. Just because there isn't visible mold doesn't mean there isn't mold in the air. How did the mold get there in the first place? You are correct, that it would take a lot of money. The real problem is moisture.
