This certainly implies that the consistency in positivity that CC maintains in her media interviews is not just a PR presentation. She's a true believer in herself and in others. We all have "it" in us to bring out, and her eyes are good at seeing that. Maybe even that's a part of what we're experiencing as fans, that power in us that comes out as joy. She's a summoner.

This is so true. I don't know the numbers but I'd bet 90% of non IA fans tuned in to their first women's NCAA tourney after CC started getting all the buzz in 23 and watched their first 2 games ever as the final 4 and championship. I did this as well. Didn't watch another NCAA game until '24 Elite 8 and by then I was already rooting for Kate, Gabby, Stueltke etc as though they were my team i've been rooting for all year long. I was sad to see the last game because I grew to like the team. FF to my first WNBA game when the Fever played with CC making her debut. I watched a few games here and there and now am a fan of Boston, Mitchell, Hull, Temi, Wheeler etc for different reasons. I root for them all to do and be well though.

When you listen to CC's pre and post pressers, it becomes obvious that she possesses a deep and broad, and objective understanding of the game. And her court IQ is as good as it gets. It is not surprising that she would be an effective coach to her teammates. I think it is likely that CC will someday be one of the best coaches in BB.

The issue that I have with Lexie hull is that she is not shooting much. She has been hitting with a high percentage but she is also only taking two to three shots per game. She needs to try and get ten shots in per game.

Lexie has been wide open in a lot of games but her teammates haven't passed to her particularly with Sides inside the paint 90's b-ball game plan crap . Hull was wide open 3 times in the last game & no one passed to her , Smith a big culprit 💯
@ronmcbride4474
@ronmcbride4474 3 сағат бұрын
@farmerJ-zp9dj Agreed. The problem I'd both Lynn Dunn and Sides. Sides believes in the inside out game because Dunn does as well. That has prevented them from running a full motion offense and constantly having picks, screens rolls and back door dives by players on the offside as well. And it puts to much pressure on Aliah, especially when being guarded by a larger, more athletic defender that can block shots. They stagnate, at times running the pick and roll, and many times those setting screens are doing a terrible job. I like the pop outs to Aliah, giving her the option to shoot, drive or pass. She is also an excellent passer, and the makes her more dangerous and harder to defend. Caitlin herself creates the holes and mistakes on defense to exploit. Because she has big range, that opens up the inside, especially when teams try too blits her or double team.

Caitlin is clearly a strong personality. I'm sure Lexie is strong but she just needed someone like Caitlin to push her forward in this league because that probably isn't her strength. Lexie proved herself in college and I look forward to seeing what she will do in the future with Caitlin's support.

I remember early in the season, we saw Caitlin sitting by herself on the plane while Lexi was having fun with one of the teammates that probably wasn't as warm about CC. I followed women's college basketball and knew about Lexi when she and her sister won the NCAA title. Lexi's background growing up seemed like it would have fit well with Caitlin's. I was kind of surprised they weren't hitting it off right away. I guess it just needed a little more time. No surprise they gravitated towards each other.

Clark showed her that it's OK to only shoot 33% from 3 and to try to score constantly. So since Lexie shoots 47% from 3 range, and can be pretty efficient finishing, and she's finally getting to play a lot of minutes, she's having a really good aggressive season. Thus people are noticing that she's been a really good player all along. It's amazing what good players can accomplish when they don't worry about leashes put on them by coaches. Imagine players who actually can shoot 3s at a great % taking 9 per game.

Caitlin's college coach (Lisa Bluder) could verify this for me, so her words were "Caitlin makes the players around her better". Caitlin does what she can to pass to other players rather than just run to the other end and put up a 3. Sure she loves doing that, but she knows that her team needs her to show them things they might not know, and to someone who saw all of her college games, unselfish is the first word that I think of when talking about Caitlin.

I think mick seen my comment. Because you made so much sense in this. You do not need a team of stars. You just need a star who turns normal players into a team with confidence. I also think many people overlook a very important factor. if you average say 8000 with half the seats empty and then CC comes to town and you go to a bigger venue and it gets packed to the rafters and you are on live tv. This puts extra pressure on these teams. But the fever are used to it. They played the whole season breaking records.. So not a problem for them

Just be impartial and observant. I think 2 things happened. The first had to do with the other players were standoffish, and she was probably a loner, with the way the season started. Her being such a driven, but exceptionally talented player, probably saw her frustration, but also seeing and hearing the turmoil coming fr I m her very vocal fans, not wanting to have that ire directed at them. And to be honest, there was a fair amount directed at Aliah, Erica, and Kelcie initially. What snapped that. IMO, was the deserved heat her teammates received after the Kennedy foul, and the harsh words coming from Matt Barnes and others about being a team, and you cant allow other play e rs to trash your teammate. That heat got them to start standing up for her or preventing her from getting T's. That was the first instance i think Caitlin felt like she was part of the team, which brought her out of her shell in interacting with them. At that point it was clear Aliah and Caitlin bonded, which propelled both to the All Star b game. I think, though not as toght yet, but Kelcie started understanding Caitlin's game, and c she stated to become more patient waiting for Caitlin to set her up for easier shots, which also propelled her to the All star game as well. I think some in the team were starting to realize how Caitlin's play draws so much attention, that she will put them in podition to excell as well. I then think the frienship that ensued with Caitlin and Lexi, especially the away time in Mexico, buyt also Lexi getting called on stage at the country concert when back in Indy with Caitlin, had to be impactful. We then see when back in Indy, Lexiand Caitlin are on the same team playing that game like tennis. And when the competition for hitting baseballs, Lexi was the one who matched Caitlins love of competing batting. I am sure that time, just like Aliah, Kelcie especially after the break, Lexi, and even to a degree Erica Wheeler, who quit trying to iso everytime she touched the ball, has helped each one of them. One last key point is by the time of the Kenndy foul, the Fever were past the brutal start and were starting to get some wins, which had to also create a more positive team feeling.

Lexie also makes for a pretty good wide receiver, too. Not knowing this team, til this year .. I recall earlier, this year, Lexie's ball handling, and moving was quite good, .. for the minutes that she was on the floor. About Clark .. with the Fever having the ball, .. she seems to have worked out how to give other players the most space possible, free of a defender, to score, .. with Clark's passing to them. The extra split second's edge .. it's huge.

Its awesome. Also you mention imagine an Angel Reese that actually passes to her teammates? That is a very scary possibility 😂 ive been saying this, if she figures out that passing the ball is a thing in basketball and if she learned how to do that effectively thats kinda scary lol imagine if angel reese was actually a good person and could fit in with the Fever without demolishing all their chemistry and have caitlin show her how to pass a little bit, she will be incredible. Her terrible shooting is really the thing holding back her potential, if you kick out those passes with good shooters, she could be great.

To be real with ya, friends and family CAN have a positive influence in building confidence and helping to improve other aspects of one's life. With Hull being a basketball player, it makes sense that it will manifest in Lexi's game. No doubt that being friends with and fostering a bond with CC is a big part of that, including team chemistry. Maybe it's as simple as CC encouraging her to stay later after practice to work on her shot. Maybe CC played defense while Hull shoots those shots, while guarded.
