I feel the fact that she's so evidently proud/unashamed to be gay in a heterosexist culture that still stereotypes gay people to denigrate them and looks down upon homosexuality like it's somehow inferior to heterosexuality, I think that matters a lot. Way more than how funny she is. And I like how she's asserting that she does not want to play straight characters in movies instead of gay ones or try straight sex. Because gay people are brought up to think that being perceived as straight & having straight sex is an achievement somehow. Straight people are allowed in the current culture to assert that they don't ever want to have sex with a same-sex person, act like they're grossed out, etc. & are approved by society. If gay people express that sentiment about opp-sex people, they're accused of being mean, arrogant, hating women (in case of gay dudes) or hating men (in case of lesbians). So Kate's assertiveness of her homosexuality matters to me too. And I like that she did so respectfully, in an honest manner that shouldn't cause hurt or offense to anybody. Please note though that I'm not lecturing you or anything, just sharing my thoughts.
