The speech she gave in front of Ellen and Portia reminds me: Back in the late 90s during a pre-award show special I think on E! they interviewed Portia who was on Ally McBeal. I don't remember any exact words anymore but the perky straight girl interviewing her asked Portia about dress fitting, stylists, and the fabulous time she had shopping, getting ready for the show later. Total straight girl boring stuff. In total contrast, Portia was like "I don't like shopping. Fittings are dreadful. It wasn't fun at all. Dresses are uncomfortable. I like pants." And my heart swelled. ❤️ And the funny thing is, she wasn't even out yet and I made mental note of that single moment on E! from all those years ago.

It was iconic and ended up making history, one of the first times women wore miniskirts on tv.
