My son Brian was murdered in 2014. This song brings him back--a little. I can cry like a baby when I hear this song. No parent should have to go through this feeling.

@@johnwatts328 My friend let share some the bottom-line truths. . "What we allow, will continue." Unknown . “The worst lies are the lies we tell ourselves. We live in denial of what we do, even what we think. We do this because we're afraid. We fear we will not find love, and when we find it we fear we'll lose it. We fear that if we don't have love, we will be unhappy.” ― Richard Bach . “No amount of soul searching would fix my past. There was no magical Band-Aid I could stick on my heart, no special glue I could use to make myself whole again. I had shattered to pieces like a fragile vase on concrete; some fragments could be roughly cobbled back together, but many of my vital parts had simply turned to dust, pulverized and scattered by the first gust of wind.” Julie Johnson, Like Gravity . When you are confronted with the impossible, go with the cornerstone of every "Recovery" program, for the past 50 years. . "God, grant me the Serenity To accept the things, I cannot change... There's a jazz standard called "Nature Boy". Written in 1947 by Eden Ahbez, and first popularized by Nat King Cole. The son "Bitter Boy" seems like that song's younger cousin.

Moved to mention this because I have been binge-listening to Kate again on KZbin for the last couple of days. When I interviewed her (not for the first time) a few years ago, she named this as her "favourite own song" though she may well feel she has written better since. That comment can be seen at www.salutlive.com/2007/09/conversations-1.htm, the last section of a very warm and open three-part interview (there are links to the other two). There are also one or two dead links; it's been a while.

@@Monkshabit1 It would be interesting to know the path of gestation from uncle, through mother and father, to their daughter, and to the song. Or whatever other path the Muse illuminated.
