Whattaya hear? Nothing but the rain. I was a regular BG officer on Galactica, and when you and Eddie talked about "So say we all" in the mini-series, it reminded me of the mass funeral scene in the hangar bay in season 4 when the Canadian Actor's Union essentially said, that day, that we couldn't be asked to do a mass, unison chant, which meant we couldn't be asked to repeat "So say we all" when Eddie shouted it out. But, collectively, we all had a quick conversation amongst ourselves and said screw it, they can't ask us, but we can do it voluntarily. I actually remember saying to you "Don't worry, we're going to do it". That show meant SO much to the background performers and we were all IMMENSELY proud to be a part of it. I always wondered if the cast knew just how much it meant to us and how serisously we took it.

Watching him in BSG just cathartic. We were watching someone do the exact thing they were born to do, and doing it better than anyone could possibly imagine. He played the perfect protagonist. Gravitas, hubris, humility, vulnerability, humour and pure leadership. The friendship and love between Adama and Roslin, especially towards the end was the most beautiful things I’ve seen on a screen. It’s such a pleasure to hear from the man himself.

I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Olmos many years ago at one of the first cons that was held in SLC, Ut. I’ve never met a more kind, genuine, humble, compassionate, giving, sincere, loving man than Eddie. We got the chance to speak with him on multiple occasions, due to lulls in the crowd, over a 2-day period. He told us some amazing, inspiring and intriguing stories about his life, family, career, and BSG costars (including Katie). He spoke to us in exactly the same manner he was speaking to Katee during this interview. It was one of the coolest experiences of my lifetime, to get to know such a wonderful man (to a small degree). I’m still incredibly grateful to him for being so generous with his time and speaking to us for so long. I was also lucky enough to meet Richard Hatch and Aaron Douglas that weekend. These too were wonderful experiences, but not quite as inspiring and memorable as the time we had with Eddie. He will always be one of my most favorite actors. You are so LUCKY to have developed such a wonderful friendship in your life Katee. Thank you, thank you, thank you for interviewing him and sharing it with us. I hope you DO have the opportunity to have him on your show again. (And Mary as well. Haven’t had the chance to meet her yet, but am such a fan and very much enjoyed your interview with her as well.)

@Elim19864 ай бұрын
Also taking note of how subtle details do inform how we hear and see the characters interact over the course of the series. How certain characters develop through highly tense moments. I also consider the music from the series to really be a character to the series too. The regulars, the recurring, and the guest stars were always taking us on a journey. I also recently read over The Science of Battlestar Galactica, which showcases how we come to understand there’s a realism. Of course BSG is television- quality science fiction. All the same we hear and see the story in ways that are built upon concepts that are understandable. That there’s substance and subtext.

Mr. Olmos is such a dynamic actor. He pulls out all the stops in any given scene... the "we are at war" speech is one of the most inspiring in the history of cinema. 13:00 You were talking about doing this foot race with tasks you had to complete during the race. It was really tough. You were worried about finishing the race in last place. As an amputee growing up, in every foot race I was in I always finished in last place. It was really frustrating as no matter how hard I tried, I could never beat anyone. I learned something far to late, that I wish I had known then, The one who finished the race in last place, finished the race. All of those kids had a huge advantage over me, 2 healthy legs. There was no way I was going to ever beat them. I was a Pinto in a race with Ferraris. I should never have been trying to competed against them. THAT is an extremely important life lesson for everyone I think. For me, just finishing was a major accomplishment.
