Hi Kate- Thank you so much for ALL of your videos, they are so clear and helpful. I've had an Etsy POD shop for a while, and love that side of things but am working on expanding. I have an ask for a video that would be so helpful, since you are so great at explaining clearly and in detail. With expanding my shop, I am working on printable wall art and am having the hardest time understanding the photo sizes & aspect ratio (file-wise, print-wise and mockup-wise). Then how to showcase/place the images in mockups correctly without affecting the integrity of the print for the customer (so that what they see is what they get, not an off-kilter image I made fit into the mockup). Again, thank you so much and I look forward to all of your videos, I learn so much. :D

Hi Kate, thanks so much for the video as always. Love the knowledge you share and your upbeat energy! I have a question not relating to AI art but to copywriting your own designs that are used on your Etsy products. Do you suggest copywriting your designs before listing them on Etsy or is it not necessary? Thanks so much!

hi kate i love all your etsy videos and feel like they’ve helped me so much and i’m so grateful to you for them but i just felt like i couldn’t not say anything about this topic. i hope you understand 💗 as an artist, it makes me feel so sad to see this video promoting ai programmes that are widely known to steal art from artists like me to train their models. as an artist it is so harmful and exploitative 😢 and i feel like artists don’t get compensation enough for all the years spent learning and refining our craft as it is. midjourney and a bunch of other ai programmes are actually being sued for severe copyright infringements due to them using stolen art to train their models. do you know how kittl trained their model and if they compensated the artists whose artworks they used to create their programme?

Hi friend, I am not familiar with the lawsuits you mentioned but I understand and can speak to the dilemma we all feel a bit in this space. First of all, I hope for some oversight and regulation in the future with AI in general. Oftentimes it does make it hard on artists. However, AI is here to stay. Any entrepreneur must understand that to stay in business any length of time the key is to “learn, unlearn, and relearn”. Markets shift and what we are now seeing is a massive automation in life through AI, not just in art. It will only continue. Artist will not be the only ones who have to adjust. I have my own hesitations regarding AI but nothing I do will alter its integration into our lives as the future plays out. I guess my primary concern has not been so much a moral one, of “is AI right or wrong” but “how can we use this tool to our advantage as business people” since it’s here to stay.
@aianaiya Жыл бұрын
@@KateHayes ai is definitely here to stay i agree and of course we need to adjust as entrepreneurs. however i think it’s imperative that we as humans have compassion and care for each other and not exploit others hard work. and we can stop further exploitation of artists by not using programmes that commit art theft but rather stand up for each other and encourage companies to make programmes/ai models that compensate the artists for the artwork in the first place. we definitely need to adjust because you’re right ai isn’t going anywhere. but we must keep our morals at the same time in that space 💗

I very much agree. It's really sad seeing people take advantage of AI without thinking about actual artists beforehand 😔
@aianaiya Жыл бұрын
@@artdipity i’m so happy you do 🥺 it could so easily be helped as well by these companies just paying royalties and/or compensating artists in the first place. they make enough money to do this and it also stops the copyright infringement they commit and therefore the infringement their users commit and let’s everyone use ai in a positive way 🥺💗

I was hoping for a comment like this, the second I saw the thumbnail. I completely, 100 % agree ! Especially as an artist with an Etsy shop too... (And yes I also know AI is here to stay but this isn't the way. We need regulations. I personally could see it being useful as some sort of tool but not as a replacement for artist.. But I guess the way people define 'art' differs greatly too..)
