Also, thanks for mentioning that that love and marriage isn’t 50/50. That is so true. There are times when one of you is down, or overworked, sick, tired, etc, then the other picks up the slack. The other one will do that for you when you are down, sick, etc. This is my busy time for my home based business. I still cook 3-4 nights a week, the rest of the time my husband will either eat leftovers, or fend for himself. We do takeout about once a week. He does the dishes most of the time, heats up food for me on the days I don’t cook. It’s great. But after two months of this I noticed that he was getting tired, dishes were piling up. So, after a very long day working, I did an hour of dishes. He was so appreciative. I was exhausted, but he was so happy that it was worth it.

Also, it is so nice when someone takes the time to say they won’t speak poorly of someone, who at one time was probably the most important person in their life. My ex and I are friends and so many people can’t understand how. My kids have told me many times how their friends wish their divorced parents were like we are but instead they can’t even be under the same roof at the same time (I feel sad for those kids). Lastly, although I didn’t get to save money myself, I did open a bank account for my youngest daughter (she’s 16 and is trying to get a job) and started her a savings account with $100 and a checking account with $100.

Our goal after we had ours second child was for me to be a stay at home mom. I’ve enjoyed that for 10 years now. The biggest step to hitting this goal, along with so many more, was a budget. During the K Squad challenge we hit our goal of $1200. Which happens to be the same as our sinking fund for Christmas, so Christmas 2021 is funded!

I get that.with my husband,due to his disability,he is unable to do certain things.due to my asthma,i cannot do certain things,but we work together. I did yell at him,though.why?i.spent a lot of time cleaning our tiny studio apartment.got it clean,nice,neat,organized.he utterly trashed the place. Amen! Married going on 39 years. For the first 20 years my husband worked his rear off..we had a son and daughter (now 34 and 36) In 2009 he was injured on the job, had several major surgeries and became addicted to prescription medications. I felt like I was giving 75% ( his disability payments helped pay most of the bills) at the time. He is still not 100% physically and I feel like I do much more however, I feel due to his injuries, etc he is doing his best ( recovered from addiction)...he still covers most of the bill's with annuity, SSA income, etc. There are days I think, the kids are raised and gone but...I love him, and I feel hes giving his best even though I wish it could be better.

Great Tips! Thanks for this! I endured a challenging situation similar to you and your husband's back in 2009. I reached my AHA MOMENT regarding financial security and building wealth some years back. I've been on a paying down debt and building wealth plan for a few solid years. Admittedly it's definitely a commitment and can be challenging to begin, but with a few years behind me now, I've been able to reduce spending and/or give up other purchases all together. I've changed my lifestyle totally as a result of the lockdown and have come to no longer need or desire my lifestyle prior to COVID-19. For example, I haven't had my hair or nails professionally maintained since March of 2020, so have used those extra funds to pay down debt and build an Emergency Savings Fund.

Kate, tx for your inspiration! My accomplishments: 1. Moved $10,000 from a very low .5% yield savings account to another fund that's a bit more risky but will likely yield on avg approx 5%. 2. Converted 12% of my IRA to a Roth IRA. Doing these 2 things will raise my 2020 taxes about $1,000 but will save me approx $20,000 over the next 30 years. I'm 60 and single. My savings goal was to: 1. Eat out only 2 times during this period. 2. Clean off my dining table so I could eat more homemade meals there. I've only eaten out once and the table is still covered with piles of paper. But I feel really great about saving $20,000 and that motivates me to find even more savings opportunities. And, I've set a new deadline - Dec 31 - to reach my clear tabletop goal. I’m saving for new appliances next year, 2022. I saved $500 in this 10 weeks. I’ll be doing another start on ten new weeks soon! This is an easy goal from grocery shopping weekly and not buying cola drinks, chips, packaged foods. I love to bake and we have better home baked items than I can purchase. Yum! Tip # 45 for saving your money, in alot of credit card debt, ask your bank for a revolving line of credit, then switch the credit card debt over to your lower interest line of credit, then you have the option of only paying the interest if things are tight and you pay what you want when you want to pay the rest of the balance off.

I was doing well, with the savings goal, until my car needed an expensive repair very unexpectedly. But I was grateful I had the cash to pay for it. I'm getting back up again, and back on track. Didn’t do the challenge,just saw this video in my feed. I have been listing a lot of our stuff but people usually don’t show up,even for donations half the time they never show. 🙄😞 I did get one of my sons toy sets sold for $20,& gave him half. Hopefully it goes better for me with Christmas coming up since we have a lot of new toys. Worked a few overtime hours (maybe 10) thanksgiving week while it was offered. It’s a struggle making $10-$11/hr 7.5 hours 5days a week-(4 every other week in January because I’m too tired.)but my sons dad takes 2/3rds of my check and I have to use the other 1/3rd to pay almost all of the bills on my own so he’ll just leave all the lights on & leave windows open while the air or heat is on bc he doesn’t care bc he doesn’t help pay electric/gas. I do use our joint account for most groceries & pet stuff like litter & food now. I take care of the house & pets alone. He helps get our son to do his homework & make dinner 3weeks a month but that’s it,doesn’t even clean up after himself so I’m working on getting my license but drivers training is so expensive,trying to do what I can so I can leave but lawyers are also expensive as for custody bc his moms wanted my son since before I was even pregnant,my sons dad alone would probably do joint pretty well but then again who knows.

@@KateKaden hello kate im busy but super excited reading yout reply.. thank you so.much for you honestly im super happy with all uou savi gs tips specialy nim a mom of no husband and i dont need one.so many things i want share with you first i was lock diwn for months in my province while visiting my childre so i dont have any choiceu stay jome with the kidz i keep.prayi g that thus pandemic will go and i keep.rebooking ticket back to luckily after 5 times of rebook finally i get to fly back to work so no work for 5 months but i keep spending slowly.my savings plus i keep watching you.you motivate me morw and more.so iget back to work thank God now im 4 minths work i save dounble because no offs theres a reat but off s most i wnat to relax and do my thing.so niw before xmas im givinng off lucky employer alow me .Dollar to peso i save up in dollar 4500 for 4 months tbus big for mr and my children so happy because of you Kate i. more fucos more determine more motivated .ive watch a lot utuber but you the best of all .thank you be safe and God bless .. thank you fir spending ti.e ti write mr back loving it...
