I guess I am easy to please, because I loved all of them. I guess my favourite was the lower unit bridge view apartment. I also liked the New Jersey facing one (number one). A lot of storage, the view looked calm, I like rooftops and industrial views. I would have to watch the video many times to take it all in. Maybe the Empire State Building view one is my favourite. The second bedroom would be a gorgeous office. I'm just dreaming!
@KateOstre6 ай бұрын
You're right! The river (New Jersey) view was peaceful, I was too harsh in my judgement toward it :-) I was just hoping they'd have some higher floor units with more of a city view and less of the neighbors but no luck.

Seems like you like Central Park area..probably more money and not so many new buildings but, it worth it. Also, East Village was fun with views of older buildings. Yes, not much privacy but tis is New York! privacy goes for much more $. I am in same situation looking ether to buy or to rent in NYC starting this summer...Thank you for all tips to look for :) I also have a dog and same requirements for a park nearby. I also like lower buildings area with more "air". Wes village perhaps? :)))

liked apartments 2 & 5 & 7 & 9 &10 & 11 & 12. best apartments are 2 for the natural lighting & 7 for the Empire State view & 9 for the size of the living room & 12 for the view, but my absolute favorite is apartments 2 & 7. and for the privacy issue you could always install some curtains.

Beautifully shot and edited. Love the romantic shots of NYC in the rain. You also did a good job of showing us the apartments--the spaces were well delineated, not confusing. Your own current building may be old and your apartment may be dark, but I have to say your decor is incredibly classy and beautiful, and make your flat look fancier than it is, you know? As for the new flats: 10, 11 and 12 were super swanky and the views were nice but I don't do high floors that well...I get dizzy. 12 probably had the coolest long distance/city views but 10 with the bridge was iconic, as you said. 8 and 9 no way. One roach--disgusting, and always means there are more. I liked 6 and 7 the best of this lot, including where they were located. Good light, awesome views, nice layouts for both. 7 had smaller rooms but the view of the Empire State was lovely--just put beds/couches on the right side of the room and you'll be looking right at it ;-). Since you have family with you, I did like the fact that 7's bedrooms were separated by the living room, for more privacy. I agree w/you that corner rooms are special and would try to get as many as possible, lol! I like well-maintained older buildings with character (and often larger rooms, fireplaces etc.) but with the new skyscrapers you sure do get amazing views and amenities! There's a lot of appeal in that. Good luck!

wow thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! And thank you for the compliments to the current place. We really loved decorating it, a lot of the pieces were made by us including all the paintings, some sculptures, etc. It is a lovely apartment, I'm lucky to live here. I wish we had a fireplace, too! :-) Very good point about the bedrooms being separated by the living room. In our place right now, they are next to each other. Somehow it still blows my mind when I think that we even have 2 bedrooms - so grateful! Next, it would be nice to have them further apart haha Thanks again for watching!

BUT are the amenities worth the extra 💵 (plus noise). Have you considered Roosevelt Island - it has everything you want - - very pet friendly too! Cheers, Good Luck and thx for the restaurant reviews!

I own a tiny co-op apartment in NoHo and I was just sitting here thinking that the rental prices in this video are INSANE. But then it just dawned on me that, between mortgage and maintenance/taxes, I'm paying close to $6000/month. For a STUDIO!!! Admittedly, I love this neighborhood (which I consider to be the best in the entire city) and after living around Manhattan for 25 years, I can't imagine being anywhere else.

There are 50 states in the United States and most have at least one large metropolitan city with amenities like libraries, museums, theaters, restaurants, quality medical centers, etc. why is it that so many people crave living in tiny apartments with many flights of stairs and no elevator, where your bed is in the living room, if you’re lucky you get one tiny closet and then have to store most of your belongings beneath your bed, and your monthly rent is at least $3000 a month?

I’m always frustrated with these apartment hunt videos where the hunters must-haves are 2-bathrooms, but waste time looking at apartments with only one bathroom. Why bother?
@SiliaAspa6 ай бұрын
Easy! When you stay longer to one video they earn through longevity! So you see unnecessary stuff (based on what you click for) just for some extra dollars in their pocket!
@KateOstre6 ай бұрын
When you come to a big building for a tour, they often show you multiple units they have. Plus you can never get all the things you want in NYC, sometimes it's a trade-off: maybe sacrifice another bathroom but save $2K and gain a balcony. Doesn't hurt to have an open mind and be flexible.

I spent a lot of my life (and money) living in central London. Looking back, I really enjoyed the city vibe, but I think it would have been more sensible to live in a cheaper suburb and commute. I just mean that I’ve probably paid enough to landlords to buy a place outright. Also I’d say don’t assume that your current salary will go on forever. Anyway just my thoughts, good luck and best wishes!

"you were just really picky about things I thought were quite miniscule for those price points" Uhh.. Coming from someone who pays close to these prices, anything that is "miniscule" is pretty significant for living anywhere for a significant period of time, ESPECIALLY in NYC. "why are you not looking to buy.. that is just insane. 60-100k a year on rent" Welcome to NYC? I've taken you've never had to work in the city, let alone make anywhere close to enough to afford something like this. Living in the city comes at a cost, duh, but the tech salaries more than make up for what they'll be paying in rent. "I think Warren Buffett would call you stupid." Jesus Christ man, that comment speaks volumes on your thought process. Do a bit more research on living here, rather than coming into a random comment section spewing some bullshit about something you clearly know nothing about.
