just a note for making this plus size, you probably want to add just a few more stitches to the front panels to make sure it comes around your wider sides.
@irmar2 жыл бұрын
I was thinking of that, when she said to make the front panels smaller than half the back. I thought that in sewing class they always say to make the front a bit bigger to accomodate the breasts (we don't have bumps on our back).

I’m volunteering at a school for the Deaf in Kenya, and I need a sweater pattern to teach the kids. This one caught my eye because it can be easily adapted to any size, which is one of the things we need. To try it out, I made one for my host family’s son, and it fits perfectly. The kids in my class will love making this sweater!

Currently working on this cardigan, it’s my first project ever and it’s turning out perfect considering I’m a complete novice lol. I wanted super chunky and balloon like sleeves so I left lots of room. I have one sleeve and the ribbing left to do! I’m considering adding pockets to the front panels as well but my hand is very stiff so that might have to wait. I’m using a super Chucky polyester yarn in light pink and forest green for the ribbing and I love how it looks already, even in it far from complete state of being lol, thank you for the video, it was very helpful!

How many yards of yarn did you use approximately
@stephanielong79979 күн бұрын
@dawnamendola8690 Hi! I had used leftover yarn from a past project, which no longer had the label, so I'm not sure exactly how many yards. But if i remember correctly, I used about 4 skeins of weight 6 chunky yarn. Using 4 gave me a little wiggle room for mistakes as well. I hope this helps a little!
@dawnamendola86909 күн бұрын
@@stephanielong7997 yes! Thank you , was it heavy using the 6 weight ?
@stephanielong79979 күн бұрын
@dawnamendola8690 At first, I was afraid it was going to be too bulky even though i wanted it to be a chunky sweater, but after I wore it a couple times it relaxed and was perfect. I also made a longer version of it with 6 weight and it's so cute. I made my stitches a touch looser with that one and that really helped give it a bit more flow and movement. 😄

It took me a while but I was able to crochet my cardigan! I ended up not doing the bottom ribbing but it didn't affect the overall appearance. It's definitely a big project so perhaps it's not that suitable for total beginners. Just some feedback from me - while it's great that this design is very customisable, I thought that it would be good to zoom in a little on the details. For example, the phrase "fasten on"; I wasn't too sure what was meant by that but I guessed and it worked. However, it would have been great to have put that small detail in the video so as to have made it clearer. Thanks for putting up this video and helping fellow crocheters out there!
