They will love and work for you no matter what. That's pretty darn special. Thanks for sharing Kate's story. I really enjoyed this video. From Deep in the Heart of Texas

This is a great example of how a true partnership develops over time. I feel that a lot of dog parents/owners/handlers what polished doggos (no matter what it is - manners in the home, working duties, competition expectations, etc.) but they want this final product within an unreasonable amount of time for the dog. The dog must mature to their full potential before we can get the best from them - this is fair to me since we humans expect the same from one another. A dog is an investment of time, especially when we place high demands on them, such as the amazing work Kate does. I appreciate this video because it highlights how time can be the best way to handle quirks. I also appreciate this origin story because there's a great deal of gentleness, respect and kindness in your approach to Kate's development. That is what building a partnership is about.

A friend of mine had a German Shepard Dog that did something similar to Kate. She was a very bossy dog and wanted what she wanted when she wanted it and would let you know about it. She also had a lot of energy and needed a lot of interaction from her people. Kate is a beauty and a wonderful dog. Love all the dogs.

I just love hearing about Kate. Kate looks a good bit like my 1st BC, Fly. I got Fly at 9 yrs old, she came off the ranch as a retired dog, and came to me to live as a ‘Diva’. Ok not really, but she got a good retired life. She still got to work on occasion and I saw just what you’ve seen with Kate - Fly knew the ropes. Kinda like riding a horse, you give the horse its head. Give Fly, or Kate, the reins and they’re amazing. Fly also had the uncanny ability to know what to do, where to go, etc. A real mind reader. I always love watching Kate work. Thank you for sharing! ❤️

My Dog which was also a timid dog who ended up on my farm after 2 false starts, just passed away at 12 of a heart attack. She was never sick a day in her life. She looked just like Kate with the gray hair around her eyes. She was never injured. She was at the door always, always ready, always eager to go out. What a hole they leave when they are gone.

My Tess Siobhan passed away in '08 and her son JackBNimble 4 years later. She was 16.2 years old then and he 17 years. I have no idea what they died of then. Tess looked so much like Kate and so sweet and intelligent. Jack would go up the sliding board at my niece's elementary school and go down and enjoyed playing Border Collie Soccer-no rules, just fun! I miss them both and my other 2 girls, Little Bo Peep and Gypsy Rose Lee who both died in '18.

I m glad to get to know Kate better, even though I am listening to this vlog a year later. You mentioned several traits I experienced with my Border Collie , Toro, who I got when she was a puppy. Toro and Kate came out of their shells, yet still had a certain independence, in a good way, and became incredible working dogs. Their unique listening skills and independence allowed them to still perform the job asked by humans. 🥰👍❤️

Our Katie passed in September. She was "the boss." Police of our 4 other dogs, except her brother. He ignored her orders. Lol. But he passed first and she went with him 12 hours later. We were shocked and devastated! She didn't let her younger brother go it alone. I thank her for that. They were 15 years old and determined until the end. I miss them terribly. This breed is very special in addition to herding wizards. Love your videos.

Thank you for sharing Kate's beginnings with you it is truly a match made in heaven! Kudos to Stacy for recognizing the connection right away. You two seem to be very tuned in to each other! We had a Border Collie that we "rescued" from an acquaintence. It became obvious right away by her nervousness that Sami needed lots of reassurance. My husband noticed he couldn't rattle the newspaper or pick up a hairbrush without Sami making for a corner. So you know that must have been some serious issues for her. Once she learned her place was secure and she grew more confident, she was SOOO obedient, it almost made us cry at how she tried so hard to please us. However, she did learn she was truly loved and safe, and we were blessed many times over. We understand your Kate is a very exceptional dog, and we are blessed that you share her with us! Thank you very much!!
