I subbed when there was about 200 or 300 subscribers, and the channel has grown massively since then, literally 1,000x larger. I am unfortunately unsubscribing though, because it seems like there's an agenda being pushed in some of the videos that I don't enjoy. It's like MTV/BuzzFeed/Vice/most major news style content. There's this running theme of men oppress women, even in modern society. Years ago it wasn't just men who oppressed women, it was society, women oppressed women as well. They knew what they wanted to accept as "normal" and anyone outside that was bad. Now women have just as much claim to power as men, but the narrative still remains. Mainstream media loves to milk this narrative to the point it's sad, and I'm tired of hearing this narrative. So unsubbed.

My favorite is the time a paparazzi got a photo of her on a boat with a man, which was mildly scandalous. She didn't say a thing about it publicly, until some interviewer asked her, so, who was that? She replied with "I don't remember." It was her husband.

I was a big fan of Hepburn. I think that she came from a fairly wealthy family, so she was able to avoid some of the pressure that a young, broke girl might be under when trying to get acting jobs. Not being totally at the mercy of the men in charge should be the norm, and I think that Hepburn probably inspired many actors to stand up for themselves as best they could.

Katharine Hepburn's house in Connecticut (or vacation house), which she was in, was destroyed by wind and storm surge when a massive hurricane hit New England in 1938, and she was inside it with several other members of her family. They managed to swim to some sort of shelter and ride pieces of the house to shore. The house was a total loss and inside that house was her Best Actress Oscar, which I believe she also didn't really give much of a fuck about (there was one award that she was proud of so it could've been this one, not totally sure), but it was found days after the hurricane and ended up being returned to her. Even mother nature cannot defeat Katharine Hepburn.

Quoting Wiki: "Various US cities, in the 19th and 20th centuries, passed legislation barring women from wearing trousers. Representative among these was an 1863 law passed by San Francisco's Board of Supervisors criminalizing appearing in public in “a dress not belonging to his or her sex,” although similar laws existed in Columbus, Ohio (passed 1848); Chicago, Illinois (passed 1851); Houston, Texas (passed 1864); Orlando, Florida (passed 1907), and approximately two dozen other US cities[4]. (Anti-crossdressing laws continued to pass well into the 20th century, with Detroit, Michigan and Miami, Florida passing laws as late as the 1950s, and Cincinnati, Ohio passing one in 1974[5].)"

A pal of mine recommended me this channel. We watched some videos together adn I thought they were alright. In my own time I never found any thing too interesting to watch and I didnt know where to place this channel. But one day, I decided to put up some Fact Fiend vids, I figured they'd be perfect to watch/listen to while making homework. At the end of that day I was binging videos instead of making my homework (lmao). Now I wait patiently everytime for a new upload. Love your guys' content!

The thing I remember about her most, was that she wasn't invulnerable. She was hell on wheels to be sure, but there was a deep fragility as well. Parental approval was an issue and then a sense of helplessness when dealing with Spencer Tracy's alcoholism. He never did leave his wife, after all. So I got the impression that a good number of things hurt or frustrated, or even frightened her. What made her amazing is that she didn't let it stop her, not for long anyway.

what would you classify as harassment then because its highly unlikely that no women went too far with telling her it's wrong or did the same as men. Also do you think it was only men that tried to hide her trousers, I should say as well that women could be worse than men due to the fact even in time it was, it was still looked down upon for a man to hit a woman however if a woman hit another it was still assualt but could brushed depending on each others standing within the social and economic classes.

Talia She had a long love affair with Spencer Tracey. They lived together for years and years and it was an open secret in Hollywood although the studios tried to keep it out of the gossip columns. Tracey was Catholic and couldn't divorce his wife both because of religion and because it would have been suicidal to his career. You should look it up. It was quite the love story.

Well you can seperate basiacly any group (probaly excluding some of the more extreme ones) into two group. Reasonable People you can talk with even when you disagree with them and shitheads. This was always the case (because groups dont work like hive minds ) but nowadays the shitheads became a bit more prominent than it was the case a while ago. One reason for this is that its way easier with social media nowadays to get attention witch on the one hand also did some good by getting attention towards some bullshit in the world but on the other hand also enabled people to create more bullshit. Another reason for this is that in the way how information are managed in the digital world you are less likley to see a group as a whole but only the parts that enforce your opinion on it. If you for example have a negativ opinion on a group to begin with you are more likley to hear about the shitheads in these group than the reasonable ones. This might strenghten your opinion but does obscure the bigger picture. And also its sadly the case that people at least in democracys became really really lazy when it comes to discussions. Most people dont want to see the other sides point of view or want to discuss to reach a compromisse. Its just people wanting for other people agreeing with them in every point or not reaching a agreement at all. And this process basiacly creates more shitheads. And I know this sounds very harsh and Im also not excluding myself from this things. This stuff also happened to me and I also did something like that. But Im honestly pretty tired of the way shitheads have taken over any form of disscussion by now. Third wave feminism isnt the problem the shitheads inside of it (and the counterside) are the problem. Preventing reasonable people from both sides to come forward and actually achiving something instead of having shitheads from both sides crying all the time. Because at this rate we go more and more down the rabbithole and down there , there are just even worse shitheads than the ones we have at the moment.

If people want to call themselves elephants even thought they are obviously people and not elephants does that make them elephants ? Because anybody who wants supremacy has got to be a bit of a dick right ? With feminists equlity is right there in the motto so people who want this alleged supremacy are just confused about being elephants i mean feminists. furthermore anybody can lie to you about being an elephant right? But in real life were all smart enough so see through that bull shit right ?right ??

i would really like to agree with you but these people get platforms to say what they say because they have support if you want good people to get the spotlight support them i have the exact same stance whenever someone says athletes get way to much money and such you cant blame that athlete because there are millions willing to pay them that money blame the millions if you know someone better give them support and encourage others to do the same the problem movements face today is the level headed people that truly wish to help and further society dont speak up while the few that are fueled by hate are shouting so while the majority dont agree they are essentially abstaining from a vote on their movements image be loud about your opinion if you care who you are lumped into or dont proclaim you are part of a movement with an image you disagree with ... on a side note there is a 3rd type that may be even more dangerous the people who join a movement disagree with a speaker but say well he is my guy so ill take his side anyway

Love the TV interview that Katharine Hepburn did on the Dick Cavett Show. She didn't like how the seats and furniture was arranged and rearranged the whole set. Kudos for Dick Cavett for capturing it all on film. Would be great if you did videos on Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, and Vivien Leigh.

@Dexter Morgan virtue signaling is when you intentionally and clearly note to other people that what you think is good and what other people think is bad. Basically, instead of leaving it at what Hepburn did and just saying people criticized her, he extensively complained about man babies who don't like feminism to show that he's not one of those guys.

+wingracer 16 - Keep projecting if it makes you feel better... If I was a "whiny man baby" I would feel threatened by cool hold-their-own-against-men-who-try-to-put-them-down women like Ms Hepburn; I certainly wouldn't praise her as being awesome... Some guys are douchebags - some members of all demographics are - I'd never dream of denying that fact, I just have enough self-confidence to not feel the need to go "Hey! Look over here! Look how bad *this* guy is!" every time some other man conforms to a negative stereotype of masculinity; obsessively harping-on about the flaws in others is a very obvious deflection tactic employed by those afraid of being judged by others for the failings they - rightly or wrongly - perceive in themselves 😏
