This is always the best part of the game, IMO. Getting the base going and expanding. Now you do it 4x more on each planet. It's so fun! Great series, thanks!

After rushing to bots, I rushed to white science and got the bot containers. Now I'm starting to work on a bot only base. Using this map has been very interesting.
@KatherineOfSky19 күн бұрын
A bot only base isnt efficient, especially for high throughput materials. You also cannot control priority with bots.

It looks like the coal split you have going down to the main belt smelting array isn't prioritized towards the power coal belt so a lot of your limited brown-out coal wasn't making it up to power.

I believe the idea is to allow building (or training in) more later to "inject" where the demand is needed. If you try to add more at the beginning, then I think you'll be limited by the belt capacity/throughput at the beginning. I had to think about the comment she made about the green chips and how they were balanced when being introduced to the bus, because I assumed that the last splitter could have a priority output left (or add another one outside of the blueprint). After thinking about it, I would probably prefer those green chips on the right belt until after the mall. Mainly because later on, when everything is backed up in the mall, and I go to build something new or upgrade something, the demand for those green chips in the mall might starve science, red chips, or blue chips. At least this way, the supply is split.

19:14 So when box has "greater than" 150 it will disable the inserter taking from the yellow crafter and transferring into the box because the if then is no longer true. And to hold a minimum stockpile for base construction, we need to have the input set to enable when box has more than 50? Anything over 50 enables the inserter taking from box to the blue inserter crafter, and the output inserter from blue is the limit/amount of blue inserters in the output blue inserter chest? Taking on fulgora blind with bots was a very hilarious experience, especially barely having circuits 101 understood. My current "blind" playthrough besides nauvis at 220 hours has been amazing. Currently spaceships are extremely overwhelming, am very excited to follow along

You got it right! The great part about that system is that you can blueprint the wire connections and use them from the start of a new game. Well... that was a benefit before 2.0. Now red and green wires are free, it doesn't matter as much. I'm taking my play through slow and trying not to watch any videos of planets I haven't been to yet. That probably cost me 40 hours on fulgora because I didn't notice that the small lightening rods were unlocked with just researching fulgora itself. I spent too much time trying to figure out how to use solar, then eventually shipped in nuclear, just to have enough power to craft the science necessary for the large lightening collectors. Once I got those and saw that one of their ingredients is the small lightening rod, I couldn't believe I made that mistake! At least I had a chance to start teaching myself more about the new features for circuits and interacting with machines... like I learned how to only enable machines for the science ingredients when there was enough power in the accumulators and I had enough of their ingredients to make enough to hit the amount of science I eventually wanted. Anyway... this new stuff has definitely been fun, and I always enjoy seeing how KoS solves problems.

@@bwoodward308 speaking of Katherine, the mall is the only thing I blueprint. I like incremental games so for each "major new thing" I learn/play around with I typically "prestige" a new save if I wanna include new ideals, I'm really excited to play around with the modular mini mall this run

@@bwoodward308 also, my understanding of red/green are to measure 2 circuit conditions simultaneously?
@bwoodward30817 күн бұрын
@@robcostalots8254 yes, when both red and green are connected to the input side of a combinator, you'll have checkboxes for some places so you can only use the signal from a specific wire. I've used this to do if "each" on the red wire is greater than "each" on the green wire, output "each" input from the green wire. Then you can set up a constant combinator with signals on the green wire to compare to things in your network. I wanted to do the output "each" as 1, but you can't choose the wire to use in that case and it outputs 1 for everything coming in on both wires. This at least let's me know that I have more items than some threshold and take some action. In the past you'd have to set up different signals for items in the constant combinator and a decider combinator for each item because you'd have to "hardcode" the special signal to compare. I like getting ideas from KoS's blueprints and layouts (from what I see in the videos), but I haven't tried using her's directly. I like building and trying out different things. I've used other players blueprints before and it wasn't as fun for me. I still use a belt balancer book, but for everything else, I try to re-create my builds and try new things.

Your coal splitter above the brick factory does not have priority set. Love the content.

If you are out of underground belts from your inventory then the game won’t place it. If you are in ghost mode it will do it. I found that it always does it for trees. I also noticed the game will glitch here and there and it will only place the first underground belt and not the second one but leave the space for it even though you have plenty in your inventory. 10:22
@KatherineOfSky17 күн бұрын
Your first sentence doesnt always hold true... Ive seen it place or not palce in exactly the same circumstances of not having the underground, but placing ghosts, or sometimes not placign ghosts.

I think I saw some splitters diverting coal from the power plant (a few are not prioritized). I also feed my excess wood into the power plant supply. (I cut down a lot of trees, and don't need that many small power poles.) 🤣

@@blackhat4968 I feel like this might be old but I'm used to 1 offshore pump to 20 boilers, with two sets I can set my "garbage" logistics section to take out extra/residual fuels like wood etc to having requester chests set to 4.5k putting one material on each half belt. After learning to walk down the bus and be restocked/disposal taken, I got so much faster at getting back to making factories As long as this is in addition to your main steam power it chews down some of that stockpile Something about nuking the forest hits different... especially when you forget to swap your weapon and your tank explodes...

Hi, I've been following you on Factorio for a while now, this is the first time I've written a comment. I think the way you develop your guides is great. I'm writing because I've seen that your blueprint for the laboratories is not right, since there are laboratories that only take one or another science and not all of them. They are too close together. I'll keep reading your guides from Spain. Greetings and Merry Christmas

The labs are not too close together, but they need to be shifted one tile. I fix that in the next episode. Merry Christmas to you!
