As a teenager in the 1970's I used to play "Cracklin Rosie" on my guitar, now I play Neil Diamond singing Cracklin Rosie over the Phone for my Mom who is in a nursing home. She loves it.

YESSSSSSSSSS - one song that kept me going thru many years! I am now 89 years old, blessed with 6 children, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grands. World War II behind me - I am thankful for all the blessings and one and only Neil Diamond. My all time favorite indeed.

There are so many good singers who helped us survive the 70's and 80's. It's just difficult to say who is the greatest of all times. What we do know is that their music touched our heads and hearts long before our feet reacted. As for Neil Diamond I was but a child in the 70's just over 6 when this song was rotating. But I have gone back to rediscover some of his songs and apart from the richness of the music one thing stands out and that is how much each song sounds like an orchestra playing.

yes, there was something about the music, the singers, the sound then that carries thru perfectly to today; it's unexplainable; someone raised this point about Elvis -- how could he, & everyone around him - musicians, singers, w-not much more than a mic sound as good then as if it was being sung or recorded w-today's "high" technology -- not to mention, no one used gimmicks - smoke, strobe lights effect, etc.back then

My parents owned a bar in Wisconsin from the late 60’s to early 1980 and Neil was a jukebox staple. I’ll be 60 in a few short weeks but would give anything to be back at the bar, riding my bike in the parking lot with the neighbor kids, listening to these songs coming from the speakers my dad had outside under the eaves of the bar. Thanks for the memories.

I'm a straight male, and I have always thought he was a good looking man, for girls to swoon over. What I can't figure out , is why women throw their underwear at Dwight Yoakam who is only 15 years younger. Maybe they go for that tattered jeans look. Neil is more accomplished.

WE were all so very young when this song came out. It was the year I turned 18. I was married and my husband had turned 21. It was the year in Canada that the age to go to a bar or pub as we called it, was lowered to 18, ironically just after he turned the old legal age of 21. So that year we could both legally drink alcohol. He did not think it was funny at all. We managed to stay married quite happily for 35 years. To my surprise, he called it quits and the joke was on me as the BEEGEEs sang. Still love him and I’m 73 this year. Still love Neil and this song.

I have this memory frozen in time of this song...growing up in the early seventies, and an older friend who had fallen in love for the first time. I stopped by her house on a Saturday to find her listening to a 45 of this record, on one of those record players that opened up from a little suitcase. It was broken, and it would stop going round, but she would turn it with her finger to keep it going. She didn't care if it sped up or slowed down, she just had to hear it some more. I just stood there watching her play it over and over, thinking about that boy, wondering about love and what secrets this song held for her ❤
