Em is Em and there will never be another like him. Im a country listener mostly, but Im an 81 baby so the 90s hip hop and rap is the only stuff I like! It's actually called The Real Slim Shady. A little background - the record label wanted another lead off single like My Name is from his previous album. Em didn't think he could top that song and wrote The Way I am out of frustration, where he talks about expectations and pressures and not being able to top My Name Is. Then The Way I Am was going to be the first single but basically at the last minute he got inspired by the beat and wrote The Real Slim Shady.

Oh and also check out the Grammy performance of Stan he does with Elton john. It’s unreal how he can tell a story. He was being called homophobic for his lyrics so he said he’d only do the Grammys if it was with Elton, Elton eventually helped em get sober and they’re still really good friends today. The thing that made Eminem was his honesty, whether through his humor or heartbreak, he was not afraid to show people who he was. That was a bit different in the rap game - most rappers had this front up of being the badass tough guy/girl. You couldn't show vulnerability or that you were goofy because that was weakness. Em changed that up and said, "Here I am - deal with it." Of course he was taking a ton of drugs at the time too, so.....

I’m 63! I had 5 small children when this came out. So they didn’t know better. At 40, I laughed my azz off and had to play this in the car going to work. My ex wife FKIN HATED IT! You've got great videos. If you want to expand your rap a little bit and hop onto a great algorithm, Harry Mack is a freestyle rapper and reactions to his content are huge on KZbin. Would also love to see you dive back into more 90s classics like your Pearl Jam reaction. Foo Fighters, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Incubus, Deftones...all absolutely amazing. Also, consider using lyric videos. A lot of music reactors end up moving on to them because some of the genres and artists make deciphering the vocals really difficult compared to something like rap. Keep up the great content!
