I like the Phistomefel ring! (I already knew what it was.) My solve went mostly well, like one hour & 20 minutes, though. A few times I didn't know what to do and I watched what Kathy did next.

Yes, thinking about the kropki's first would have been better but I'm very glad that you started out with explaining what Pfistomefel's ring is. And like always, you pushed through like a warrior. GG ! This is certainly one of the hardest puzzles I've set so far. Next one will be less of a brainbreaker.

Nice puzzle but it was pretty tough.

At ca. 33:00 you missed 35 the other way round on the arrow in box 1.

I agree.

You’re right! I remember thinking I couldn’t have 3 in that box, maybe I had it mixed up with box 3 and 7

Congratulations for making it through this one, Kathy! I don't usually make it through 3* on LMD puzzles (which this is one), and was unsure if I would finish this, but did complete it in 26:28 (conflict checker off), a much better time than I expected! Many thanks to Jonesy for a great puzzle.

I've only been watching cracking the cryptic in relation to sudoku variant puzzles. Bless youtube for suggesting me your channel. Great solve! Already suscribed and thrilled to watch your videos. Love from Spain!

As far as SET is concerned there are 2 versions of the Phisto ring (that I know of) , number phile has a video on it by Simon. There is also basic SET theory used in irregular or killer , you know it as the law of leftovers. Basic SET can also be applied to windowku to find some extra regions. There are of course more advanced SETs one of which is Aad's theorem and SETs only specific to a singular puzzle. I'm not the best at it however. You may want to direct questions to more experienced solvers/setters.

Smart hobbies also has a lot of excellent videos explaining SET and solving puzzles using it. I can recommend.

KATHY I LOVE THAT COMMENT about "this happens a lot"!!! It does, and you do. Follow the logic. It works on practically all of the arrows in this puzzle. Still, it shows that you're learning... and you still manage the solves.

With regards to the 5s and 6s not being on the ring - they call it pinwheeling (because of the positioning it forces them into in rows/columns 3 and 7)

Nice puzzle and solve. Quite difficult. Solved it in 54:44. I think there were a couple of gaps in logic at around 44:06. At that point I don't think a 7 is limited to r7c7 or r8c8 because r8c8 could be 8 with two 4s on the arrow. Same issue a little later at 45:05, because at that point r8c8 can still be 8 the same way.

I might have accidentally cut this part out because I couldn't find it when skimming, but at one point I realized the arrow couldn't actually be 4-4 because if r8c8 is an 8, then r9c8 is a 4! It was a random realization in the middle of a long period of not much progress so I probably did accidentally cut it out lol

One of those "awful" puzzles, where half of the time is "thought"... ;) - Completed in 24m17s. Kathy, you'd have been better off not think too hard about the "ring" and more about the kropki logic. Two consecutive pairs, comprised of 1s, 2s, 3s and 4s are 12 and 34 by default!

I'm honestly not sure if you're being 'awfully' sarcastic or not. But I'm guessing you are.
