Bit over 50 minutes with a bunch of Kathy's help. Very tough puzzle but also fun. Neat puzzle by Jonesy. Nicely solved by Kathy. I saw the Phisto ring but the correct way to use it didn't dawn on me right away. Might have been faster if so.

That was a very thorough dissection of the puzzle. I knew this puzzle had at least 2 different break ins and you showed me a 3rd one. I really liked when you noticed the green digits on the arrows had to be the same your instinct asked if you could do more with that. It does in fact create this cascade of virtual arrows around the ring. Because the 78 pair is consecutive, their arrows in box 6 must contain consecutive digits along with the shared digit. With that you can solve r5c7 as your first digit. Someone told me they solved r5c5 as a first digit also. Alternatively if r3c3 was 6, r4c3 must be 1 creating a contradiction between the 9 arrow and the 3 red digits in box 4. There is a lot of geometry going on in this one. Great solve ! Sub 40 mins is a really good time.

It took me entirely too long to notice the phistomefel pattern... Fun solve though, and really elegant once I spotted the ring.

Kathy, the 69 pair are important. They are 123 and 234 meaning 2 and 3 are used twice... so the middle three digits in column three are 123 (eliminating one of the 4s in the ring, and disambiguating the 69 pair).

I see you do it about 16 minutes in. Considering Phistomefel is automatic for me now, seeing that pattern. But it makes sense since I don't think you are TERRIBLY experienced with Phisto!
