The Roora process, while still undeniably beautiful, seems to have undergone significant modernisation. What was once an emotionally charged and unpredictable day, filled with tension, drama, and spontaneous exchanges between families, now feels more structured and rehearsed. The raw authenticity that characterised these ceremonies in the past appears to be fading, replaced by a polished, almost theatrical approach that aligns with contemporary sensibilities. This transformation also raises an intriguing question: are women now playing a more active role in their own Roora negotiations? If so, does this signal empowerment and progress, or is it a shift that risks diluting the traditional dynamics and significance of the event? While change is inevitable, there remains a yearning for the heartfelt, unpredictable essence that once made the Roora day so memorable and meaningful. Let me know your thoughts on this matter.

Thank you for your POV. However, please bear in mind that this was a combination of 2 different cultures from 2 different countries, being blended together, not just the traditional Zimbabwean roora. I'm not too sure what it is you saw in this very compact video of the happenings of the day that caused you to have that perspective; a lot was ommited for privacy reasons in respect to the couple, family and friends involved. Regardless, it was a very successful day, and 2 families were joined happily.
