You got it bang on he definitely always had it going on BIG TIME - early 70s in the U.K. he was bigger than anyone and pretty much started the British glam rock phenomenon. Loads more to check out.

I saved my pocket money for a long time to go to a concert a year later in 1972. When it started I wasn't so keen on T.Rex anymore but I went anyway and was excited by this really cool opening act and it was "Status Quo" and they played one of their first hits "Tune to the Music" and that blew me away. You can tell from my bad english language that I'm from Hamburg/Germany but it is what it is. T.Rex and David Bowie were the founders of (then so called glimring) or glittery rock music.

Marc never penetrated the US but in Britain (and Europe) he became a superstar. 14 million records in a couple of years is not to be sniffed at. And he was a prime motivator for David Bowie.

Try to listen to a song when he was younger or called seal of seasons. The band was called tyrannosaurus Rex then and then later they shortened it to T-Rex and became more rock oriented. The album is called unicorn and I've listened to it probably 50 times.

His then girlfriend was Gloria Jones. She are a soul singer known as the one who originally recorded Tainted Love in 1965. Became a big hit for Soft Cell and Marilyn Manson.
