While many epic movie themes carry the flavor of hero’s inner conflicts, the essence of the life threatening perils that arise, Chi Mai is strikes us solemnly with its treatment of finality. The emotional violins murmur, then deliver a steady plaint that evolve into a cry. The summon to our ears has been laid and acknowledgement of what will ensure is demanded. It is the preface to a tragic end, not the narration of the hero’s trials but the introduction of completion. Enters the melody at 0:21, the same platter of plaintive violins began their stories, accompanied by steady blocks of piano chords and tiptoeing arpeggios. These harp's arpeggios suggest that underneath the pain experienced in one’s life, lie a layer of innocence. It is an almost childlike desire to hold on to one’s values, a pulsating and constant reminder of the hold dreams may have on most then willing to go against the grain. All this sounds abstract until the bass confers the colors of life to this dream at 0:51. The struggle is real, the pain is indeed felt and the emotions pouring inside the increasingly cold frame a reminder of a life that might still be. One of the iconic passages of this song starts at 1:30 and returns at 2:55. Led with what seems to be a royal harpsichord, the melody transcends pain or fatality. The tone changes from tragic minor to the major of strength and resilience. Images of celebrations, laurels being placed of the hero's head, the tender gaze of a loved one or even the soothing remembrance of a childhood spent in innocence provide a reprieve to one stricken by adversity. At 1:37 the spirit of hope is heightened as the scale quickens to a peak of unequivocal power... the hero is standing on the highest mountain in the Batmanesque splendor, overlooking the people he protects, the land he loves. But at 1:45 the bitter taste of reality stains this moment of happiness. then was it all folly? Can the peace, a gift wrapped in the ribbon of his deeds and glued with his sweat, tears and blood, flow endlessly. The dreams given life by my sacrificed life, are they standing on a foundation that will slip as the mud does when pushed by violent floods, days, years, centuries after I will only be a footnote? The hero draws to his last breath, enters a vivid dream sequence in which we as the audience is given a chance to evaluate his deeds. Has the hero found the peace he so longingly sought? Will the glory promised to the selfless and mighty heroes with no name handed to him? If more breaths be granted to this beaten but no defeated soul, would a sight of the beloved home, a touch of the beloved’s lips allowed. Then this end at 4:24 which reenacts with emotional verisimilitude of a life fading into oblivion as an electrocardiograph monitor would dramatically display it. The percussion remains a calm witness. They celebrate this glorious demise by staying steady and not overstating grief: the drum continues the same rhythm while the cymbals accentuates the fading violins. But off course the in the background (synthetic violins) like an sonic angel of death guiding that spirit, holds a guiding tone, slides into another one as the chord changes until it is complete oblivion.

I am a beginner violinist but have been looking at some of the greats on this site all day and think she is amazing, and also plays the violin very good. Ha! She has the best tone and rythm of all that I seen today, including over David Garret. I found David and others to rush at times where she is dead on. She listens whats going on around her. Excellent, Katica! You have mezmerized me with your looks and playing skills.
