My family and I have had cats and dogs forever and they do good. Some even have been bffs and loved each other. It will happen they will adjust it may take time. It will be easier for the pup then the cats though.

The reason that the cat had that reaction was how you introduced them. You just brought a new dog into their house and did not give them a chance to get to know each other. There are tons of videos online on how to bring a new animal into your home and they will live fine together.

General rule of thumb: you can bring a cat into a dog's house but it is harder to bring a dog into a cat's house.

Definitely harder but definitely doable with the proper introductions. We've successfully introduced 2 dogs into a home with 2 cats and they are all very fond of each other :)

Ryan is right, Katie would really only be able to see the dog a lot for two years especially if she goes out of state for college. We got a dog when my sister and I were both young and he lived 15 years and we got to spend so much time with him. We got another dog maybe 4 years ago and she was about 10 years younger than our other dog and now that I am in college I don’t get to see her very often even though I visit home every other weekend. It is just very tough and she would be better off getting a dog when she gets married and has kids so that the dog can get as much loving as possible.

Katie? Go out of state for college? I think she'll want to stay close to her parents. She's 16 years old (going on 17), and still asks her mommy for snuggles. What I worry about is her and Caden, assuming they've both found the one. What if Caden ends up going to college in, I don't know, California? Long distance relationships *never* last.

I have 4 cats and even every time we got a new cat the other cat would freak out like that. I don’t think it matters wether it’s a new cat or new dog. The cats will adjust. They freak out bc it’s something new they’re not used to yet.

A dog in a house with two cats that was not properly introduced, and dogs get attached to people ( example; Charlie from the Tannerites after Polar died and they moved ). Any pet is a lot of work, if the kids bring the pet into the house - they should be responsible for it ( with exception to the vet bills ) - feeding, bathing, walking, training. And Katie showed how responsible she could be when she got the hamster. An animal is not an impulse buy, it's like raising another child. Added question; Did you even think about what to do if the dog and cats do not get along?

as someone who owns a cat and dog, ryan shouldn’t have been holding the cat because they are very territorial and the cat felt threatened. you have to introduce them SLOWLY starting with the cat smelling the dogs scent and then introducing them in a small and safe environment

As a dog owner, never get a dog on impulse. It's like having a 3 year old kid for 14 or 15 years. Think about all the pros and cons. What will you do when you go on vacation? The dog will bond to you so leaving it for any time will be as traumatic as leaving a child. Please think very carefully about having a dog

Wow, close call on the eyeball there Ryan.. A startled cat is something like a hand grenade with claws, let that sucker go next time. Popcorn is produced from 1 of the 6 types of corn, (flint corn) is the most common for popping, it is dried in a special kiln to toughen the skin, while retaining moisture to expand and cook the starch to fluffy numiness before breaking through the hull. 😁

It took a long time for my cat to get used to dog around the house she used to torment the dog which was a black lab and way bigger than the cat. When the pup was little she used to go to my pups kennel and hiss at it cause night I followed her into the room to see what she was doing in the dogs room and caught her in the act. I put a stop to that real fast. It takes cat longer to to get used to a dog than the other way around.

Yep popcorn is a specific type of corn. We've tried growing it before. You technically can use other corn, but this type works the best.

Puppies and dogs are a ton of work especially since y’all travel so much!! Just make sure to do your research and give the cats a safe space the dog can’t go like the upstairs bedroom or Brennan’s room and bathroom!!

corn goes through a combine to remove the kernels, which are dried in a special container to develop the tough outer skin, and get a precise moisture level inside and in order for it to pop. The kernels that don't pop are too dry inside.

I say adopt the dog if you’re ready to be training a puppy for the next couple months! They can definitely live together! We had two dogs and my step dad wanted a cat so he got a 3 year old cat. The dogs were maybe 6/7 so everyone was “set in their ways” like some people like to say but they definitely adjusted after a couple weeks. They all learn to coexist better if you have somewhere up high the cats can escape to where the dog can’t get. Some cats even learn to love the dog and cuddle with them.

@@christopherbeck166 You ever here of service animals? Many with service dogs take mats along in case the animals need to relieve themselves. Similarly at home, dogs can be trained to use specific areas to do their business, and even kitty litter, but I suppose the latter depends upon size. It may be a little more work to clean up a mat than a box of litter, idk, but it's clearly something just as doable for dogs as cats. And as I pointed out elsewhere, our neighbors trained their dogs to use litter boxes. And dogs are tons of more fun than cats!

@@reallifelegend4781 yes I have heard of service dog's do you know how much time and money goes in to training these dogs yes it can be done you see the pup nibbling on the rug when dogs get bored they start chewing things as I said the family are away alot and you can't leave a dog in the house for a week or 2 with someone popping in once a day to feed it needs walked a few times a day unlike cats mike doesn't want 1 brennan is leaving Katie is always out as is ryan and they will be leaving home at some point over the next few years so it will be left to gill and mike for the next 15 years potentially big commitment

Cats and dogs can live together. My cousin has a little chihuahua and two cats, and they spend a lot of their time together. And poor Ryan got scratched by his cat, but his cat felt different about the dog in his house. I experienced a situation like that before, and I have a sign in my chest of it that I'll take with me for the rest of my life.

Ouch, poor Ryan, bit of a bad day, lucky it missed his eye. it takes a bit of work and patience to introduce a puppy to a full grown cat, it can take weeks before the cat will accept a puppy, but it can be done. You can probably find step by step methods on line.

Popcorn is a type of corn with hard, moisture-resistant hull that surrounds a dense pocket of starch that will pop when heated.. But you can use other types they just want pop as well.
