Great interview!! A huge cause for this is the lack of education. Public school systems are not teaching students about WWII and the holocaust. Students are not being taught how, after the war, countries were divided in the Middle East, and the subsequent wars. The lack of education in MS and HS is leaving a void that is being filled by social media, usually biased and emotionally charged.

I agree totally, having seen this in my community in PA, and around the area. It saddens me, but also makes me angry that so many seem to be wanting to erase True History, which includes the Holocaust, as well as the Native genocide in the USA, and the enslavement of dark skinned peoples. It sickens me,a nd we must join together to educate students, provide books and stories with schools, libraries and religious orgs.

I totally agree, it is amazing that what we see as an education for our children in this country is so biased, I mean how can they make israel look so good and anyone who questions any of its crimes be labeled anti semitic, it really makes the real jews look bad, and people confuse the zionist with the jews which is not fair, there has to be a clear distinction between the criminal zionism and the peaceful jews who advocate peace and harmony with the rest of the world, but unfortunately the education in our schools have a specific agenda and what we see today is more of a propaganda than an education... thank you for your comment !!

Katie, I appreciate you interviewing someone about antisemitism, but I do want to speak up and say that many Jews object to the ADL CEO's framing of Zionism and Judaism as being synonymous. There are many Jews who object to Zionism as a concept, and many more who might accept it in principle but still have serious reservations about the way the concept has been used to justify the Israeli policies towards the Palestinian people. These people are truly Jewish, and are often motivated by deep Jewish values such as Shalom and Tzedekah. Antisemitism is real and is sadly widespread. But oversimplifying complicated issues is not the way to fight it.

The Jews who object to Zionism don't realize that 40% of the world's Jews live in Israel, many escaping the danger and discrimination they experienced in other countries. Ignorance is not usually considered a Jewish attribute. But I guess the exaggerated need to be loved, by all, is.

I agree - Greenblatt seem to throw around words like Zionism rather loosely - we are not all Jews and familiar with Jewish history. He should have defined some of the words he used so his meaning was totally clear. The history of the Middle East is so complicated and not easy to understand, so help us to understand and give some background to your comments and clarify the meaning of the words which can be ill defined and not understood by non-Jeish people.

Zionists like Greenblatt have spent decades fostering a orchestrated campaign to make Zionism synonymous with Judaism to prevent criticism of Israel's abhorrent treatment of the Palestinians and by labeling all criticism as antisemitism. The rise in antisemitism is real, and Zionists have their share of responsibility in that rise.

There’s a lot to untangle here when it comes to Hamas, Palestinian people, Israeli people in general, Jewish people, the current Israeli government. It’s complicated, until it’s your child kidnapped, your father decapitated, your family bombed in a refugee camp, your grandmother dying of thirst because a government decided to kill her that way. I understand the desire to rid the world of Hamas. I understand that Hamas lit this flame in a horrible way. I fear, though, that the indiscriminate bombings and other war crimes of the Netanyahu regime is converting Palestinians to a larger, more global, and more radicalised Hamas. Jews DO count. Palestinians DO count, and have been treated terribly by Hamas and by the Israeli government-let’s face it. On the other hand, the Israelis are surrounded on three sides by people who would rather see them dead. What happened on October 7 is reprehensible. Hamas started this. No question. So, what are the Israelis to do? It’s complicated. But when it comes to personally harming another-the Jewish baker next door. The six year old Muslim boy. The college kid in the next dorm room. That’s easy. Do. No. Harm.

I appreciate your point of view, but you can not deny the direct link between the events of oct 7 and israel's behavior for the last 75 years, I mean it is very very clear that israel does NOT want to give any land to the palestinians, the way the palestinians are treated by israel in the west bank is beyong unacceptable and is a violation of human rights by any standards, but the world watches on, because the west controls the UN and gives the green light to israel to do anything it wants,... so to sit here and say Hamas started this is a huge oversimplification of the matter, for this guy to say the slogan "free palestine" is anti semitic, shows that he has absolutely no credibility whatsoever and all he is doing is spread an israeli propaganda, israel is allowed to call itself a jewish state therefore discriminating against the non jewish citizens of israel, israel is allowed to call the west bank as jewish land, israel is allowed to claim the whole land as the promise land, but the palestinians are not allowed to say free palestine? what is total BS and endless victim playing. israel is a rogue state, israel never followed any international law, it always was kicked out from any occupied land with force, and now the same thing is happening, now israel's foes are stronger plain and simple, they are forcing it to accept the new status quo plain and simple, if israel wants peace, and believe in a two state solution: 1- remove little hitler netenyahu from power 2- withdraw from 1967 occupied land 3- give the palestinians the right to return if not, this will happen again and again and again, israel is losing and there is nothing it can do about it, the more israel will be rigid on its positions, the more they will lose, israel will not get its promise land, and if it does not give the palestinians their land according to international law, it will lose ALL of the land, it is just a question of time...

When were the tunnels built? Were hey built before some of the Buildings/Hospitals were? If so, then it begs the question as to why they began creating the tunnels. Was it because Israel ahs been bombing often through the years, and Gazans were trying to hide? Shooting weapons from Hospitals or Schools is inhumane as well, and will certainly get innocents killed. This whole situation has been brewing for many years, and is Heartbreaking, and inexcusable overall. My Jewish friends here in the USA who have family living in Israel tell me that they live with/among Palestinians, Christians...PEOPLE---, and work with them, are friends with the People. This is so tragic, and I fear for the world.

i'm just at 26 minutes into the - i don't know what to call it? show, discussion, quick deep dive, exploration of the immediate issue? love to you both, regardless. what i would say is that i think to many of the points raised, someone arguing the other side (whether in good faith or not) would find a way to say "yes, but...", where the '...' seeks to demonstrate a wider injustice in which the points you're raising sit. without explicitly framing what the opposing voices are doing in that way, though, they cannot see why the history of antisemitism is - must - be relevant to their own counter-position. therefore they can limit their contextualization; but in so doing their counter-position must be seen as unprincipled & self-serving i would say that underlying the counter-positions taken by those opposing voices, & motivating them, there is a particular view of the balance of power between various groups. this tends to avoid challenge through the above contextualizations, which also work to hide the fact that each of the counter-positions taken routes through age-old antisemitic tropes trying to examine the positions without weighing the balance of power would be meaningless except as an exercise. however, that exercise might help isolate the fact that the theme binding those opposing voices together, at root, is a perception of specific groups having 'too' much power. that, at least, explicitly pins down the range of questions to how those groups, the power they have, & how 'too much' are understood, misunderstood, or tainted by antisemitic tropes. thus, reducing the power of bad actors to weaponize the antisemitic tropes

I don't understand why you're not talking about how the Palestinians have been so marginalized that they basically don't exist. Because they've been trapped in this concentration camp for decades without any hope for a better life and it's the Israelis who have forced them to live that way. No wonder violence erupted. They couldn't get any attention any other way. The rest of the Middle East was turning their back and making normal relations with Israel and their cause and their suffering was just going by the wayside. Of course I don't condone what they did, but I understand why with a 60% unemployment rate, these young adult males signed up with Hamas and were willing to give their lives to give the rest of their families and neighbors a better life.

After World War II, the people who moved into Palestine were trying to claim it as "their land". The German Army had 'emptied' it as a place to use in the conquest of the entire Middle East. Those who put "Israel" here, were using a map which was ancient, but the territory was virtually empty. While it was wrong to "send the Jews back to Israel", the people involved were willing to go. Only those displaced were injured, and it was the "International" group who were responsible.

Israel has been attacked incessantly after WWII and the division of land. Palestine, Jordan, Syria - these were all countries formed at the same time as Israel. Everyone accepted these terms except Palestine. Look into history and the facts post WW2. Israel has always been in the defense, from unprovoked aggression. I hope you are denouncing Russia as much since they have been attacking Ukraine for 2 years now.

Robertmontgomery, well maybe that's your name, although I would have expected something from the decade of the National Socialists in Germany.

No "dude", it's all about what you, and bigots like you, are doing, and guess what, your country is going to hades in a handbasket, while you support the Orange Nightmare.

Hey Katie...you're looking great. Those trips to the dermotologist have done wonders I love the look. Next step... the next time you visit with your doctor ask him to do a dementia screening and be prepared to follow up with him. I'm greatly saddened to see the lack of comments and the lack of attention generated by this AMAZING interview. Keep doing the good work to support Zionism in our world regardless of the sacrifice that might be required by poor innocent children.

Your sarcasm is a sign of the very dementia you would put on others. And if you think that Katie is supporting Zionism, then consider what you are doing to support the destruction of Israel as a nation.

@@victorrutledge257 Read history. There was no country here. There was the Ottoman Empire, then the British Empire. Jews had always lived in Palestine. More Jews had started to come in during the 1800s. The idea of a homeland for the Jews began around that time. The British proposed a homeland in which the Arabs there would have sovereignty over the Jews. But Arabs would have none of it and already began to attack the Jews there. More Arabs from Africa and surrounding areas moved into the areas as Jews began to set up industries. Land was bought by Jews paid three times over to crafty Arab landowners. No land was stolen. The Arabs at the Mufti's decision supported Hitler. There was no established country here. No land was stolen. It doesn't seem to matter whether your narrative is true. You keep repeating it. Islam does not own all the land in the world

Bob, your fellow rednecks in the Deep South where you live, will all love your remarks, but the rest of the world is pretty much upset with you. Leave the Maga-hat nation and look at the world through eyes not colored by prejudice, bigotry, and anti-semitism. Anyone can become Jewish, it's not hard, but it takes a lifetime of devotion to become a white supremacist.
