Hi Katie, I noticed that you asked for silent hands to answer questions. I noticed that the girl in the pink sweater was using accountable talk hand signals to "build on" her peer's answer. I noticed that there was a student who was distracted and playing with her binder. I noticed that you asked for clarification on an answer (right before 2:00 mark), and I was wondering if that was a stretch-it question. I noticed that Gabriella needed a minute to look for an example and you said you would go back to her but never did, and I was wondering if you would use No Opt Out in a situation like this in the future? I noticed that you stayed near the front of the desks by the camera and I was wondering if that was because of the seating arrangement. I noticed that there were a number of times in the second half of the video that students were disengaged and slouching, and I was wondering if you could have used these as opportunities for No Opt Out. I noticed that when you asked one student for an answer and she said she didn't know, you asked another student and during Gabriella's answer, the original student started to answer but you didn't let her interrupt, nor did you go back to her. I was wondering if you could have used this as an opportunity for No Opt Out? I noticed that occasionally a student on the left side of the screen would talk, and I was wondering how many students sit on that side? I noticed that at the end you asked for fist to five for understand, and that not all students gave you an immediate or clear response. - Olivia

I noticed that you often asked the students "Do you want to share your answer?" or "Do you want to add anything?" and I'm wondering if perhaps it would have been more effective to tell the students what you need them to do (as opposed to framing it as an option that they felt they could choose to take or not take). I noticed that at 10:41 you asked a student if he wanted to share his answer and when he said "no" you said "ok" and moved on. I'm wondering if he would have been more inclined to participate and engage in the lesson if you had told him to share his, as opposed to asking him if he wanted to and giving him a choice. I noticed that two of the girls in the front often had their heads on their elbow or their hand and were looking away. I'm wondering if cold calling on them would have helped to engage them and set the expectation that everyone needs to contribute. I noticed that the some of the students went back and looked in the book to reference the text and I'm wondering what steps did you take to instill that strategy in them?
