She dumped him but she didn't let go emotionally. She still wanted to be "best friends" and control him. The healthy thing to do would have been to agree to peacefully have distance between them while they each process and heal from the divorce. She was still trying to get Tom to meet her emotional needs and he will never be able to do it.

She does also have a brain injury from a bad accident years ago that could also contribute to things when she’s nervous (or being attacked by Sandoval.. :| )
