Ashley Diane the dragon saw the future but not how it would get there. By not telling Morgana he had magic, poisoning her and not fully helping her the way Merlin wanted to that’s how she became evil. If Merlin never poisoned her she would be good, Uther may have been dead but she wouldn’t be as ‘evil’ as she came out as. If melrin told her he had magic, she wouldn’t have felt so alone and scared, that’s why she trusted Morgause so much. She was the only other person who knew that had magic. Either way, in the episode she gets poisoned. You can see she regrets what she’s done and that she didn’t want it to be that way.

Katie is amazing, you can always count on her to be the audience's advocate. I totally agree with about 95% of this, ACCEPT for Morgana being a better ruler than Arthur. Reason being; she is too much like Uther (which they've already pointed out) and I feel like she'd only do the extreme opposite of what he did in the same way that he did. Arthur is a middle-grounder, he has elements of his father in him but when it comes down to it, he's a much fairer and more compassionate king who understands and values the needs of his people. True, Merlin has a big part in preparing him, but he's shown hints of these qualities from the start, they were already there he just wasn't letting them away his judgement because Uther had always taught him otherwise. I do think Morgana has the potential to be a strong leader (Uther was actually a good king at first, even Gaius said so), but not a better one. And definitely not after she'd changed sides.

I believe Morgana would be a better ruler than both Uther and Arthur..she was compassionate from the start..and could go to any lengths to protect everyone..and she would not forgive anyone who wronged her or anyone she cares for(if she became a queen and was accepted by the people, she would care for her subjects ambitiously) she would be a better ruler than Uther because..she was not a hypocrite like Uther who could use magic when he needed it but slaughtered anyone who practised it even if they didn't cause any harm...Morgana would not be like that...she had the right qualities for becoming a queen..if she was shown the right path, if she was not betrayed by her own father, Merlin...the qualities which could have made her a great queen are the ones that destroyed her...because she didn't have anyone to guide her..come on she was declared evil and a villain by the so-called 'prophecy'..even before she came to realize her own potential...that is why Merlin too didn't tell the truth to her...

It's all Merlin's fault. I totally agree... If he has told her what he was she might not have felt so alone, might not get so attached to Mordred, might even trusted Merlin more than she trusted Morgause. He asked her to trust him but he couldn't trust her, he chosen himself over Morgana; and then chose Arthur, and Camelot, and Uther... He chose everyone besides her... I think she has all the right to be upset and angry as hell.

I don’t think it was totally Merlin’s fault. I mean, he did have a huge huge HUGE part in it, but you also have to blame Gaius and the Great Dragon. They influenced him and warned him not to do what would have helped her. Sure, he chose it but he valued their opinions which led to the eventual downfall.

I feel like it's more Guias fault due to teaching Merlin that telling anyone about his powers with lead him to death. (But he can still trust some people like Morgana.) And Guias told him not to. With that all together lead him to the fear of not helping because one he would disobey Guias (And Guias is kinda like a dad to him) and two the fear of telling someone of his powers because at this point it's a phobia to Merlin.

Maybe, but Katie’s also said that she plays strong women, women she would aspire to be. This is her in reality, very kind, very geeky, very human. I think she does understand the vulnerability her characters have gone through, having put a lot of time and thought into them, and, yes, while playing a role for years like that, you get to know your character, but she views her characters as separate people from herself.

I think she's very wrong about merlin and morgana being similar. The only thing they have in common is their magic. Because even if merlin hadn't had gaius' help and guidance, I still don't believe he'd have taken a dark route. I think that because, merlin just doesn't have the hatred and anger morgana has.
