Merlin - BFI screening (15/09/11)

Just some bits of the Q&A panel after the screening of episode 1 of series 4, which was absolutely amazing by the way! :D

Honestly; I thought it was quite obvious that Colin gets nervous whilst talking in front of people. His body language has always been subdued and semi-awkward. Even Bradley said he's a very quiet, internalized person. He's always been the contrast to the joking/outgoing likes of Katie and Bradley. It's sorta part of his charm.

In the series, he can pull off such sass and power moves, and then during interviews he sits there all shy and quiet as if that on screen was his extrovert twin. It's quite adorable

I've read a lot of comments on the internet that said that Katie was acting rude, and obnoxious. And i have to say that i couldn't disagree more ! Those people said she was turning her back on Angel (not true) that she wanted to attract attention by commenting on everything. I just think she's so happy to be here. She's just a young woman who's having the time of her life and wants to enjoy it ! Every one who's met her say she's so simple and nice, and down to earth and funny. I love this cast!

not surprised colin looks a little tired, he's the busiest person on set probably. and from what you here from his fellow cast members he is increadibly hard working as well. i agree with katie, you can see why morganna would end up how she is, you may not agree with what the character does but understand why she would believe she was in the right (even though she isn't)

katie is a geek. she admits it herself and as i'm sure most of you know we aren't always the smoothest of people. i dont think she is rude i think she is just slightly scocially awkward and excitable. and angel doesn't seam at all phased or put out about it so is probably used to katies quirks. also colin does mumble some times so katie is probably focusingon what he is saying so she can repeat it to angel later. possibly.

Gosh, Colin was just born a woobie wasn't he? As soon as you see him you become inexplicably protective of him...It's not even Merlin as a character, it's Colin, he just exudes "I'm sweet and innocent and you should make sure nothing bad ever happens to me" I don't know if that would be a good or a bad trait to possess myself...but he seems to own it.

This was probably a very long day for him (as the moderator alludes to when he asks Colin about their daily schedule), but he's there participating. He interacts with everyone but as many noticed (including you) he's tired.

I loved this tv show so much and I need them to come back. They said at the end of the TV series that they might be able to bring Merlin and the cast back. I hope they decide that because this was like one of my favorite TV shows. I watched every single episode and loved everybody's character. And it sucks without it. Oh and I can't forget the dragon I love him too. I mean he was a pain in the ass but if Merlin was the king of the dragons he could've shut his ass down more.

@TurnTheDirtIntoJoy agreed. She's really down to earth. I didn't like her much before, but after I met her in Pierrefonds in the forest just after filming, I changed my opinion. She's very lovely and nice with fans, always stops to talk and sigh staff, dispite security near her. She enjoys what she's doing, enjoys this Merlin period of life, all the interviews and so on. She just tries to be close to fans. And due to body language she feels much comfortable there than Colin and Angel do.

I'm way late to the Merlin viewership but binging each season over and over again. Wish I was aware at the time it was freshly being produced. Commenting on mannerisms during the event. Colin - I get the sense he is reserved to ensure the other stars get highlighted. Katie - this particular event she was fidgety and uncomfortable no matter how she sat (feet on table off table legs crossed uncrossed hair tossing. Animated when speaking (excited) and her character had strong changes as she morphs into more sinister ways and obsessions) which could lead to some anxiety. [in or out of a relationship with a co-star] both actors involved may be awkward in public appearances to mask favoritism and/or private/public persona. Angel - she has a different personality or appearance than Katie - more reserved. Personally, I think the chair type, location of people on stage compared to the audience and her skirt length made moving or adjusting herself within the chair more of an unadviseable idea than just suffering out a potentially uncomfortable seating position which would also lend to not be assertive in being the first to answer out of the group. Favoring less attention. Again just an opinion related to chair fabric interacting with clothes fabric coupled with chair heigth and leg length and hose. Yada yada yada 😉

I've been watching the series even up to now.. i first watched it in CD players way back 2013 and now , been watch6in on app.. i soooper love it . I felt that I knew them well.. I'm in love with every of their characters.. thought I am little saddened how the sreies ended, my hert still beats for the6.. especially for SIRE King Arthur.. I am marries and have 3 sons, my husband knew that I really admired and veru much in love with him.. that's the fanatic soul ♥️♥️♥️♥️

@Seyna91 He lost weight for Parked the movie but was slow about getting his weight back. It looks like he is approaching a healthier weight (for him) and I do see pecs and the shirt sleeves seem a little better filled out. Time will tell. Not a muscle man but filling out a little better, again.

So far, everyone has said that they are in a relationship. But it's obvious that Katie wouldn't have paid as much attention to Colin if he had been her boyfriend at the time. It is quite clear that it was sympathy without realisation in real life. Otherwise, she would have been more confident in his reaction and would not have tried so hard to impress him. They obviously didn’t have a relationship at that time, he was a deficit for her, not an accessible person.
