If anything, the lyrics of this song are even more valid today than when she released it in 2006. A very astute lady, with a stunning talent... I have never understood why she is not up there with the best in the music business. Maybe it's because her songs actually made people THINK!

what a WONDERFUL set of LYRICS + melody + voice. The lady is so talented, until now i only knew the "9 mio bicycles in Beijing" title which i also love. (beautiful love song) - but this one has so universally true lyrics!!! They even apply to me directly, i am (practically) BLIND so i won's see if a man is black or white, but by his behaviour i suppose i could quickly judge if he was racist. Heard "spiders web" for the first time today yet if i saw it correctly it is at least 13 years old now. Why hardly if ever never played on radio stations? And even more - the lyrics are nowadays even more true - where the world is in peril of breaking up into ideological blocks again. Fanatism is on the move everywhere, rathional discussions and discoursis are getting more and more difficult. This song should become a hymn... it that positive sense, greetings to everyone who's reading. may the world be a better place for all of us. gr from Vienna in Austria, from Roland

Actually, I think the song is really about how there's not really a black and white. The lyric says that the difference between right and wrong is as fine as a spider's web and is therefore very fine and delicate. It's easy to cross from on into the other without knowing. She's actually saying that it's not as simple as a dualistic interpretation of the world. There's always more than two sides to a story, after all.

But she starts with a conclusive example that white was first to be the racist. While history shows all races from all countries know racism. If she would've sing is it ok for a white to be racist if a black man's racism made him that way everybody would've burned her down.
@ivaarnautovska86664 жыл бұрын
You said it so perfect
@richardshozi20074 жыл бұрын
Not exactly. It actually addresses racism between two different races (more likely to be black and white but arguable). It encourages these two races to work together because when they do, something extraordinary will come out. Even though to the eyes of everyone, these will just be two races, the work produced will look like it was put together by a million different races. Just like the simple two-coloured piano keys that produce such magnificent sounds
@mydietisfruitsnuttandseed98174 жыл бұрын

This is not sadness. It's a kind of nostalgy only the people from eastern parts of Europe understand, hard to explain to someone who grew up in a different culture. Best poets from our part of the world made efforts to write about this feeling, I don't feel capable of even giving it a try... Wish you all the best though, it takes a lot of sensitivity to notice what you did. :)
