This vlog actually makes me want to pick up Crying in H Mart. I'm white and my husband is Korean. Food is the main exposure my children have into their Korean heritage. My girls love to go to H Mart and get Korean stuff with their Dad. I can only imagine if they lost their father they would feel similar when visiting the store. Cooking food is a huge part of how Koreans show their love and and affection... It sounds like a beautiful book for the right audience.

The hunting wives sounds very similar when it comes to the main female relationship to a simple favor which is one of my favorite movies and I also think it is a book as well. Where these two women meet at their kids school and one is a mommy blogger and the other is rich fashion consultant who goes missing.

I really enjoyed The Hunting Wives but the cover uses a bullet and not a shotgun shell. Also there shooting sessions were soooooo short. I shoot clays and shoot between 100-200 every time I go shooting. They shot like 4 times each and called it a day! But it was a fun read!

Just throwing this out there cause it's something I've thought about a lot lately... H Mart is told in first person right? I've seen you say a few other books were really boring, some of which were also told in first person. I'm wondering how much the perspective impacts your enjoyment of the book. First person tends to have more thoughts and internal dialogue that third person might not. Maybe it doesn't matter for you at all, but I've had a really hard time going from 1st POV to 3rd POV lately and wanted to see if anyone else had thoughts about it. I also wonder what the preferences are for people with their own internal dialogue versus those that have none.

What I’ve been hearing is that you need to have some sort of connection to the content in order to enjoy it on that level. If you’re Korean or grew up with someone who is Korean then you will adore the story but if not then you might not understand why it’s so good. That’s just what people are telling me. So the book might not be for us

🤢 oooh, Girl, no. Just _no._ Run those same brushes in *hot soapy water* and watch how much product _STILL_ comes out. Makeup works it’s way all the way up to the base of the brush. “Just the tip” cleaning doesn’t cut it forever lol. CS _is_ magic, but best as a finisher or in a pinch. It sucks and is tedious, but nothing beats plain ole soap, water and a little elbow grease🧼❤️
