Katie, beautiful painting and inspirational video! I am a devoted fan of your work and you. Your paintings and you always inspire me. I shared how I started painting when I lost my dear friend to cancer and I was depressed. Your tutorial inspired me to paint my first painting which was acrylic. You responded to me when I shared this, which helped me to continue. I have lost another loved one to cancer and I have not painted in a while. This video touched me and has inspired me so much that I am back in my art room again. When I do a painting now I give them to someone who has a special event or has lost a loved one. I kept my first painting and it is on the wall to inspire me all thanks to you and your tutorial. I do forget that painting should be relaxing not stressful and worrying about expectations of others or even myself so again your video has touched me and made me stop and think. I know that I am one of so many that enjoy your beautiful paintings but just know that you are the person that inspires and touch so many people just by being you. I just want to thank you. Totally understand that pressure. I used to think that my sketchbook had to be this perfectly curated book, and when something didn’t work out I would get really discouraged and think of it as wasted product. Then one day I saw a quote on Pinterest “Paint is only wasted when it stays in the tube” and it really changed my outlook. Sketchbooks don’t have to be perfect! They are for practice! Thank you for making the best painting videos on KZbin, there is seriously no one else like you on here. I hope everything in your personal life sorts itself out. Mercury will be out of retrograde on August 2! 😉

You have a very sweet and for me, encouraging art philosophy. I feel the same as you in reference to your comment, especially painting impressionistically. I get bored trying to painting realistically. I love to see the magic when the painting dries and see the happy results I also liked the comment about it being ok to hate what you've painted. But after I examine it I find something positive to try again. Thank you for sharing this wonderful painting session.

Hey Katie, I’m watching your video when I should be in bed sleeping. Work tomorrow....But I think you just made me realize something. I think the same thing is happening to me. I too haven’t painted in awhile, like a full blown painting. Just kind of dabbling here and there. Perhaps that’s what it is with me. I’ve become bored or stressed about working on paintings where I follow the artists direction....like Jerry Yarnell. He’s so talented but you already know where the process is taking you. I wonder if that’s my issue too. Who knows. All I do know is that I’m loving this beautiful watercolor you’re creating. It’s really pretty. You’ve got a great eye for color combinations and composition even when just painting to relax and enjoy. Stay well my beautiful friend.. with the lovely voice and accent. I like what you said about feeling why paint something you already see completed in your head. I often get this feeling when a painting is nearly finished, I have to push on through sometimes because I know that although I can ‘see’ it complete, others can’t yet.

Hi Katie, thank you for this video. I love your loose approach to watercolour, that is what I want to achieve in my paintings. I really like realism florals and I agree that those artists can make very beautiful things but it is not my style. I get bored and impatient. The loose and more whimsical style is what suit me the best. Great video and love your painting 💖💖💖

Such a beautiful painting! It seems that this watercolor brand behaves like a combination of gouache and watercolor, in that it is more opaque and you said it flakes a bit. I do love the amazing range of colors!

Impressionistic painters dont incorporate feeling into their art they are more focused on capturing a moment. With that said I think you mean post Impressionistic painter cuz you're incorporating your feeling into your art.
