I found that wetting the burlap first before stapling it down helps getting it super tight as when it dries it will shrink and pull all the creases out.

Using a steamer can also work - but yes - she should have gotten it wet first.

Love it as always. A tip about using the square tool. You placed the tool flat on the surface and carefully lined up with outside edge of the tool with the outside edge of the cabinet to make sure you had a 90 degree line. Actually you should use the inside edge of the tool. Tip the tool slightly so that the inside edge of the tool runs along the outside edge of the cabinet. This totally makes sure it is square. You will always get a 90 degree line and the tool will not move when you draw the line. Tough to explain but it makes a huge difference. Love your stuff!

Love that you used the burlap. Over 50 years ago, my sister-in-law used it to camouflage some damaged decorative panels under the windows of her 250 year old house they were renovating. The burlap is still there. She glued it onto the plaster, used the existing trim/framing, and painted it. Did you know you can bleach the burlap. Comes out a beautiful natural linen colour? I’ve used it to wrap Christmas gifts as well over foil gift wrap.

Trash to treasure…I love the color you picked. ❤️ When I need wrinkle out quick I completely wet a wash cloth, squeeze it out add the clothing or fabric to the dryer with the wet rag for just a couple minutes. It works so well for those times I don’t want to iron or steam anything. I hope your renovations go really well.

I really enjoyed watching this transformation. I was reminded of my father working on a UK Stately home where they were converting stables into an antiques shopping area. The interior designer had him making battens. Over which was stretched hessian which when painted white was tight as a drum and was a fabulous ceiling. Maybe spraying yours with water would do the same? 👏👏❤❤

Great job and jealous over your paint sprayer. I thought of a nice way to hide those raw edges of your burlap. You can take some decorative trim, and glue it over the edges. So when the doors are open, you have a clean "frame" around the burlap and a pop of color and design. Love you work.

I''ve seen high end furniture with burlap inserts on the drawer fronts. The burlap was painted with the same colors and techniques applied to the cabinet. The paint technique would please the heart of any chalk paint fan. It was a very subtle blending and shading in muted earthy paint colors and the total effect was gorgeous. They used a frame of narrow wood molding to cover the cut edges of the burlap panels.
