I was thinking the same thing. How wonderful would they feel knowing their piece has survived as long as it has, and is still seen as someone with beauty and value? It looks so nice it makes me wish I had room for a coffee table!

QCS works great on older finishes or lacquer. I have had good luck with it on those. the furniture with that thick multi layer poly top coats does not respond so well. Great little table project. turned out amazing, like always.

With QCS, what I've heard is that it is great on older varnish type finishes, but that the midcentury factory finishes were often catalyzed lacquers, and that QCS isn't super effective on catalyzed lacquers. Your experience here with the QVS fits with this being a non-factory produced piece.

Yes! It’s really the same with all chemical strippers. There are so many different finishes out there that it’s impossible to create something that works well on all of them 🤷🏻‍♀️

"Back in the day" *MCM era, it was a fairly common practice for "the husband" (usually), to make a coffee table or other piece of furniture for the household. I remember my dad's cherry wood coffee table very well and can't remember where it ended up after his household was dispersed. Thanks for bringing back the memory and for the great attention you gave bringing this back to life! I hope things are going well for you!

Always enjoy your makeovers. I am hoping to get enough courage to redo an old small desk I bought at a yard . I love all your tips and the fact that you include the bloopers when you knock over the stain can. My daughter did the same, but it was a gallon of black paint. Not pretty . We just move on. Table was beautiful. Does anyone that had the furniture before actually see it and get excited because it looks so awesome now?
